Like the good old days
12 is the max....
Who said UT was dying?
I jumped in to take the pic and as soon as I left someone else entered.

Well you need to get the hamsters to spin the wheel faster because DM-BowlingAlley had a wagon full of lag earlier with 7 players . . .
Evil is obvious only in retrospect.

Re: Like the good old days
Yeah, I kept an eye on it and the pings seemed to fluctuate around 200 for most players.
I'm thinking that's good considering the situation?

The map was basically unplayable with the lag and with many disconnects . . .

Yesterday a few of them were bleating how CG was the better server (so I'll assume CG is up again) and everyone should go over there. Others were competing for the affection of some hairy german girl named Paula . . .
Evil is obvious only in retrospect.

Well, back in the day, this would have been very normal and not news at all.Yeah, back when this forum use to be more of a redeemer crowd...this post would have meant something.
Full servers were pretty normal.
I remember when I came online to play UT, I had to look for servers that were NOT full so I could play.
OR - Wait until I could "shoe horn" my way into a server when I saw a player drop out for a second. LOL
Things would ease up a bit about 2 to 4 in the morning and the pings would get better - even with dial-up.

Back in the day, UT didn't have the variety of gameplay that it has now. You have players.
Be happy about that, Gramps.

It's from 2004 and the words don't quite match, but I think the sentiment is there

One problem might be that your server refuses to DL the mapvote mod. I had to go over to the CG server to get the mod so I could join your server. I also noticed ( since I haven't been playing in a long time ) that maps on your server have gotten even larger. My piddly little duel core bogs down badly trying to handle them. Personally I think when you need a " Zoom Deemer " you may have gone a little over the edge with the LARGE maps IMHO.

I think the best use of the "scope" is for the large maps where you can hardly see ant sized (or smaller) players lurking around.BIOMECH wrote:From what I hear, it's like nuclear sniping now.
Otherwise, the zoom-scope is probably more of a nuisance, blocking a lot of your view.
(Something we are working on/testing and remedying at CLD)
We now have a Red Laser Dot over at CLD that is just for fun mainly, but it does send zings up your spine and gets your adrenaline pumping when you start seeing More than your own red dot a the wall in front of you and also when you see the Red Laser Flashes in your eyes - you know you are in trouble and better do something fast.
Madcow / MEAT - there must be some setting on MRS's UT.ini file that isn't allowing some DL's.
MEAT - I think it is in here...
