If you're new and looking for advice or if you're a regular and want to give advice....here is you chance.

For example:

Last week I ran a post titled "Show me your Monster".
Basically what you need to do is take a picture, during a game, of a Monster....not a picture of me please.
And to take the picture all you need to do is press F9 during a game. Afterwards go to your UT folder...click your systems folder,
and look for something like shot0001.bmp. Click it and see if you have the picture.
To post your picture here at the forum I googled upload image and found a free image sharing site.
I use http://tinypic.com/
From there you upload the image and take the IMG code and place here.

It's so simple I can do it......and I am not a nerd....a turd but not a nerd.

Okay since that went so well...lets try another one...lol

This goes out to all the newbies or guest that frequent this forum.
Are you playing UT on a laptop? Is your deemer running to fast? Is it hard to control?
Is your wife nagging at you? Wait, that's another subject. Let's stick with the Laptop issue.
Time to slow down that deemer so you can be in control and play with the rest of us.
From my understanding and don't quote me on this, but the speed of your laptops
dual core processor runs a little to fast for UT. I hope Mr. Hermskii can give us a better explanation here?
Which causes your deemer to fly faster then everyone elses and makes it hard to control.

But I have a fix !!!
Go to your startup screen then right click your mouse and then click Properties. Now click Screen Saver.
Go to Monitor Power and click Power. Now change your Power scheme to always on.
Click Apply and you're there.....I think...I hope?

Then again there could be other issues why you're deemer is running fast.
And if anyone else can think of suggestions or solutions please tell us.

If you guys can think of any thing to help out the new players, this is the place.

Had a new player not able to bring up mapvote during a game.
Here is what to do.....(after a game when mapvote comes up automatically).
Just above mapvote itself you will see this:
Maps/Kicks...Config...Info
Click on Config. From there you will see;
Map Voting Menu Hot Key-click on the box to the right of that and add a letter or number.
That letter or number is now the key you hit when you want mapvote to come up during a game.
And it's best to use a letter or number that you currently don't use or won't use during a game.

No charge for this one but I really should stop giving away my secrets

Have you ever found that secret hiding spot where you could hide and guide and no one can find you?
And Everybody asking, "where is that guy hiding"?
Well the next time you win don't forget the whole world is watching.
Usually after a win UT will show the winning skin or player and yes you guessed it, it also shows the last
place you were hiding or firing from.
And if anyone knows the map they'll surely find your secret hiding spot in no time.
My advice, if you want to keep your secret spot a secret, as soon as you get to 28 or 29 points make
sure to find more of a visual less secret hiding spot to win from.

And if you're a newbie that frequents this forum
it's in your best interest to ask others for advice.
I personally know a lot of secret hiding spots and clever tricks.
It's something your better players are always willing to provide to make you better.
Well, at least I am.
I want better players because currently there are not any around.
I've been here long enough to see and no one is stepping up.
So....if you're new to this forum/game...ask for HELP.

If you're new and looking for advice or if you're a regular and want to give advice....here is you chance.

Like any other activity.....if you're looking and wanting to improve you first need to evaluate your performance.
For example: if you're getting more deaths than frags, maybe you need to hide better or move around more.
My advice....."well if I told you that you might get better"...

One word for ya..."Explore".
The next time you find yourself playing UT alone, take the time to explore the map.
Venture out, look around. Try to find a hidden spot or that perfect escape route.
And it doesn't matter what map, game or server you're playing.
Here is your chance to get better by learning a map or two.

It's a old program but it's a great way to view you favorite games, server information and also to see who's playing.

I shouldn'y say this but I've been getting so high lately.
I mean jumping high !!!
And you can to and it's just a click away.
Try this next time you're wanting some height:
It works best when you have jump boots.
To reach that second floor...launch your translocator straight up and when it
reaches its peak hit your jump button. Then quickly throw your translocator again.
Now here is the hard part: As it is going up your coming down....no problem.
Wait until your feet hit the floor then jump again and quickly translocate again.
It works like this:
Left click to launch your translocator....when it maxes out hit your jump button...quickly right
click to retrieve your translocator then left click to throw again....now watch your translocator sail higher.
Repeat step one to go even higher.
Give it a try and see if it works for you. Works for me.

hint: on the second throw let it also max out before you reappear.
Oh, and it takes practice... :?

Don't you just hate it when you have premature missile detonation.
You know what I mean...you have your eyes on the target
and you're only feet away from his demise and then boom...you explode your missile.
Well did you get him?
Maybe you exploded to soon and he had way to much health stored for you to put him down?
Or did he teleport away to a secret hiding spot right before your explosion could reach him?
Ahh, been there done that.
Next time do what I do...just ram that missile down his skull so the impact of his head hitting
the concrete will kill him before your missile explodes.
Do this one or two times and they'll never forget.

So....you just played...did you win or lose?
Ahh...well you can't win them all...so did you congratulate the winner?
You know...throw down a lil "gg" or something of that nature?
No?
Why not?
Oh...you're better than that....lol
Plus you thought you should have won...I feel ya.
But it wouldn't hurt to acknowledge or give props to the winner.
Wouldn't you want the same respect?

Generally speaking... If a newbie experiences 300 ping, 5% packet loss, timeouts, General Protection Faults, PC crashes, pwnerz, lamerz, camperz, spawn killerz, spammerz and so on, well he would call such a thing a BG not a GG. Just my opinion though.

Newbie or oldbie, if I experience any of that stuff you could call me GONE.
Just my opinion though.
