Actually i knew this day was coming. I just didn't think it would be so soon. Just the other day Skilz posted a reply to a topic saying The site would not be going anywhere for a long time. I feel extremely cheated in the fact that one of the great staples for this community has just been KO.

Manny of the good mappers roamed the halls of that forum. Now who will i turn to? The mappers at BUF? I don't think so. Man this really sux.

Herm , would you consider opening a mapping section on this forum?
If you say yes , i will devote some time to compiling a nice tutorial or a good working list of URLs to good tutorials. I would like it very much if some of those mappers wound up here.

Dang! That sux Kort. I sure hope everyone will come over here. I don't ever expect to have a site nearly as nice as his or be able to ever devote as much time and effort to it as Skillz did but I'll be able to hold a few folks here.

A mapping section eh? Where would I put it and what would I call it? I'll do it though. I need to uprade this website to make it work like his did some. I just have no time, no know-how and no real desire to manage all that stuff. Later!

Wow, that was odd!

If anything was to happen, he would have emailed at least to all the admins or warned beforehand if there was a problem. Could be a temporary thing, but it being month end might have had a payment issue? Let's just hope it's something small like that & it'll be back up soon.

It will not be back up. We were talking a few weeks ago about it. He is tired of the community and lack of people there of. He was talking about starting a new community encompassing all FPS genre. Including Halo, Quake , UT, and a bunch others.
I don't like that idea at all. I like to hang out with just UT players.

As far as the mapping section goes. We really need one Herm. If we have one then more maps will arise and that is a win !
You need to put forth only five minutes of effort to get this started.
Go into the admin panel and create a mapping section. It is very easy to do. You must be acting modest "no know-how" pishah
Just name it Mapping & tutorials and you are done with your commitment.
I will give it some girth and substance.

The mapping tutorials will benefit everyone , not just you or Meat.
the tuts will also encompass all gametypes.
And the section will be the perfect place for all mappers to share knowledge so everyone can learn from each other. Now that PMH is dead i think it's our responsability.

If you build it mappers will most likely come.

Yes, I know how to it but there is a routine to my forum sections that will be changed to add it here. I will figure it out and will let you know. Give me a day or 3. Later. I too hope that Skillz is just short on money and will return. I did email him too. I'll try to post about it if he answers and explains what happened if he lets me. Later.

Well, still didn't explain the suddenness of it happening. Heck, with all that was being done there, he could have offered to get most, if not all, transfered over to another site... maybe even here if that was possible. It wasn't like it was dead there either. Hopefully this puzzle will get solved soon enough.

I sent him an email and all it said was:

"Bummer. What happened? I still feel it was the best MH site ever created and I hope to see it return soon. You kept 2 copies of a recent back-up right?"

He emailed me back and all it said was:

"The site wont be returning."

So, there you have it straight from Skillz himself. I still doubt that this will remain this way forever and I certainly hope it won't. There is way too much great stuff that has been done with his site to just let it go unless he has truly had a life altering event take place in which case I pray it was a positive one.

Nope, not taking over it at all. I'm trying to determine if I have the bandwidth I need to be able to offer him free space on my webserver. I think I do but Skillz and I haven't always agreed about everything especially when it comes to running web space. Because we don't agree doesn't mean I don't completely respect him. I do. I honestly think he'll pass on my offer. He knows more than I do so he has insight to reasons why my offer may not fit his needs. I haven't offered anything yet for that matter either but history dictates that he won't be willing to accept what I offer. We'll see when I make the offer. Later!
