8 is Enough !!!

Post by MEAT » Wed Oct 31, 2007 9:35 pm

Actually I think more then three is a crowd.
Three people that is....just my opinion.
Anymore then that and you're climbing on top of each other in some of these maps.
And there is no teamwork whatsoever. It's a "free for all".
I know I know....."I'm the new guy what do I know".
It's understandable, everyone wants to be the leader.
And everyone is in a hurry to finish the map before the next guy.
As a newbie the thrill and challenge was lost playing with a crowd.
Just wish there was a player limit on some of these maps.

And like all the other UT games I think there is room for improvement.
But after 8 years it maybe to late....

Yes

Yes as in yes it is too late. I upped the max so it would list higher on the empty servers list. It worked and is busy again. I had it at 8 before but it seemed to max out at around 4-5. Even with 4-5 there will always be that guy that runs ahead and finishes early. Sorry.

Why don't we just give up with all efforts to change the way people play.
Why don't you try to beat that one guy whose trying to finish the map.
I can't believe I'm saying this.. but join the crowd.
This is America, people don't know what teamwork means.

Meat, you have a great point, and it would be very nice if people played with teamwork.

Hermskii wrote:MEAT, Do this, play and beat MH-IndianaJones by yourself. Try to do it with out ever dying once though. It isn't EASY but it isn't that hard either. I'll give you a hint, if you play your cards right, you can kill everthing there is outside without the WarLord ever even moving. OR you could get other monsters to keep him busy and shoot him while they fight him. That way he doesn't come after you. It's fun I tell you. I love playing that map when no one is on the server with me. Same for the MH-Akemi map. Beat the whole map and never die doing it. Later!
I'm with you here Hemskii.
The only joy I've had playing MH is alone.
And learning the maps and avoiding monsters, at my own pace, actually is a challenge.
Dead Horse Here:
But at the same time the maps are not setup for single play.
Plus I hate shooting at a monster a million times before he dies.
And on top of that, there are a million monsters to kill sometimes...lol

Overall I'm enjoying MH for the most part.
I've met a couple players that are helpful and play as a team.
Just wish everyone wasn't in such a hurry to finish a map.

Hey Meat

The "track Stars" may finish the map first but look at their scores. I still believe that in MH high score still wins. IMHO

High score wins. But teamwork is even more rewarding. I have the most fun when i have like 2 or 3 other hunters and we are communicating and covering each other.

What ever you do MEAT , don't ever play on a server using UTJMH mod. It is total free for all S&P.

We could change some settings and force more tam play. But this would not be popular . Herm has found a good middle ground formula.
If you see K on the server know i will be down to cover you while you run in the room and flip the switch. Use the T key!

One thing that really would add to the idea of playing as a team is using teamspeak, if we had a TS server to use while playing on MHM it would allow you to instantly communicate to a team member about movements, monsters locations, ohh and the biggie "I need HEEEELPP " to the other players.
Anyone able to host a teamspeak server for this??

This is a great idea! I'll look into the program and see if my system will handle it.

I'm still new to all this MH stuff but anything would help.
I just now was helping a guy get through MH-Indiana Jones
and some clown comes along and finishes the map right in front of both of us.
I was helping this guy with letters and the leap of faith and this
fool runs to the finish and then selects a new map and then leaves.
I was like...wtf?
And the guy I was helping was in the map for 45 min dealing with the letters.
Damn....I need Admin rights Hermskii.
I would kick half the people that play MHM...lol

I hear ya , ugh folks like the need to be stabbed ! lol  thats one of the things about the co-op style game that is MH that isn't too great . It's too easy for one or two jokers to efff it up for all the rest by running thru it real fast and spoiling it for the rest. Also , Herm, what happened to the MHM #2 server?? Another idea , password for the regs on that server , that way when we , as in the regs want to play and play nice and really do the game justice, we'll have a server just for serious minded drunks oops folks to play together in a true team effort. waddya think?? Like MEAT, I like this mod and want to play more, but I too want to play together as a team when going thru the maps and not have some jerk spoil it for the rest.

just my .02c, like |<id, I'm not afraid to to question the status quo! heheh

Too tired to answer. I won't password because the server will die if I do. TRUST ME. I know it will sorry. Do not ever be afraid here to say what you think. EVER.

Ever....8)....?

In that case, has anyone ever thought about making a new game for UT?
I was thinking maybe a game where people would start a different locations within a map.
And the object of the game would be to be the first person to reach a central point within that map.
Basically racing against each other from different areas within a map.
And on your way to that central location you'd run across monsters and obstacles of some kind.
Much like we do now when we play MH.
Maybe even crossing paths with each other.
Just a thought.... :?
