Lag Monitor

I have installed the Lag Monitor Mod on CG and MHM. It works like this:

If you connect to CG with a ping higher than 300 or packet loss of more than 5%, you will get warned that you will be booted. Soon after, if your ping or packet loss % hasn't decreased beneath the 2 standards mentioned above, you will get kicked. The end!

MHM works the same way exactly except that it's max ping is set at 250. I think this will properly address the many complaints I've had over the months concerning ping killers showing up and ruining the game for everyone.

I personally haven't seen this mod take action against anyone yet but I don't think it tells the rest of us when it does so please pay attention to it every time a high pinger comes in. Let me know if they get kicked or not. I think it takes a total of about 45 seconds before it takes any final action and kicks a player.

Ok kicked with a 240 ping and 2% packet loss and didnt take 45 seconds for it to kick me

edit tried another 2 times pings were higher then the 250 wonder if this causes pings to raise i dont think my ping is usually that high in the first place ??

It is set to nuke folks with pings that are sustained at or above 250 for about a total of 20 seconds I think. It checks every 1 second and it starts to monitor 10 seconds into each round. It sends a warning after the first 10 seconds and boots on the next 10 if it doesn't see it reduce to less than 250. I think that is how I have it set up pretty much anyway.

Heya Herm..........Id just like 2 say i luv playin on ur server!!!

only problem im havin is the high ping issue..........I never have ping over 150........I cant understand y i get booted?????? especially if u have it set for 250..... How do i check my ping in game???...........

You can check your ping by hitting F1, Look to the right most collum.
You can check your ping, framerate, and packetloss if you hit F2 i think.
It will show up in the top left corner of the screen.

Welcome Eternal Darkness!

After several request to remove entirely or relax the settings of LagMonitor, I have done the later. Please continue to give me feedback concerning this mod. Keep in mind that majority take the hit when a player with a bad ping joins. I don't mean the 56kers either. I mean the 56kers that are connecting to the internet at 24.4KBPS and are trying to online game from Russia! I'm not trying to single out anyone but I feel that the needs of the many out-weigh the needs of the few. Extra efforts have been made to ensure that everyone gets the best gameplay that is possible.

you cant go buy the ping as you see it on the favourites tab either as once you join (or at least my) ping changes you do ereally need to join the server and go from there as to just what ur ping is and check mid game too not just when the map starts or during map vote.

Right now I have it set not to kick and it is very relaxed as far as warning folks. I will gradually get it turned back up but I think the annoying warning is good enough for now. I got lots of push back from the 56kers. In the end, I need it and like it but I like my players more so we'll see later.

Would it be helpfull at all if i posted here the time , stats , speeds , and player count when the server gets realy laggy?
Would that give us any info we could use to help the situation?

Today i was playing about 8pm, Houston texas :

Server | Ping | players |
-------------------------------------------
MHM. . . . . . . .123. . . . . .5/8

CGRI. . . . . . . 56 . . . . . .3/8

The ping was going up and down but this was the average for the players:
FPH:549 ..Ping:211
FPH:570 ..Ping:185
FPH:216 ..Ping:185
FPH:180 ..Ping:94
FPH:143 ..Ping:140
FPH:16 ....Ping:199

At the time when i took these stats , the server was realy badly lagging , and it wsn't even full, nor was the other server. Everyone on confirmed the slowness too, at one time i thought you had turned the gamespeed down to 50%. But then a player "whos name i have written down" left the server . And the speed went up back to normal.
This is realy crazy that one person can have such and effect. But as you can see their ping wasn't that high. IT was in the 100's
I duno. . .
This stuff is realy intersting me right now, lol
I love the server but i almost left it today cause it was realy unbareable.

Send me an email with the name then! Yes, all of that was good but it makes no sense that pings were good yet lag happened. I can say I see my bro in law hooked up his pc to my network, I was watching porn I'll bet money, that would explain lag.

Close but no. My brother in law was watching porn on my high speed connection with his PC. That said, I determined today that LagMonitor was logging about 20 lines every second into the server log. When Igot to the log, it was already 374mb in size. My new record! Usually it gets to be about 13mb before the server crashes and starts over. All that logging in the back ground could not have been good. I have suppressed the logging action for LM so things might seem better. We'll see. Later!
