Welcome to the show! If I recall, you told me that your Dad played in the DOU clan. I guessed it was Clementine but you said no. Ask your dad if if he is cool with you giving us his player name. maybe a few of us know him. You also said you were going to get a portable DVD player so you could install the game from your disk. Did you get it? I saw where you said your CD key did not work but that you got another one. Is everything working now for you?

Awesome that you got the portable DVD player. What are you aiming to play as far UT goes. This forum has great connections to others forums that specialize in almost all UT game types. This particular forum was originally set up to support people who play "redeemer only mods" and then it also became a Monster Hunt forum back when Monster Hunt was still new to UT.

I added a UT99 Chaos server and a UT2004 Chaos server. Lastly, I added a UT4ever server. These last three weren't as popular as the first two. As you will find as you look around here, each one of the House of Hermskii servers has it's own section and then there are sections for almost everything else from mods, to mapping to off topic stuff like tv show, movies, motorcycles and family stuff etc. If you still can't find what you need, just post what you are wanting to do and we will point you in the right direction every time!

Try to let us know what you play, where you play it and when and I'm sure a few of us can show up and game with you.

I will help you with this but I'm bust this moment. Be sure tio make another post here soon and i will recall to write up what you will need to do. Until then I have a relative who wants a MonsterHunt Map pack made so he can install it and learn the maps on his own time while nobody else is playing. Smart idea. I hope, EG might put a big one together for us.

Some of us play every weekend later at night, on Friday and Saturday nights.
I can give you some of our best servers we run/own that we play on, if you wish.
The IP addresses for them will show on the listings I can give you.
These include some of Hermskii's servers, some of mine, and a few others too, and all you need do is click on the play that server link and it will start your ut99 game and bring you into the server you chose.
The listing also shows players that are currently playing.

Also, when you go into your ut99 menu and bring up online servers, you can choose ones and add them to favorites.
Those will then show up under the favorites tab on the ut99 server browser in the UT menu.

OK,

Are you still trying to do this from a Steam install or from your "Game of the Year CD" or whatever the CD you have is? The directions below "could" work on both but you may need to install some mods first. These directions would work way better on a UT game installed from a CD. Let's see where you get stuck following these directions:

Start the game. It will start playing that video explaining UT automatically.

Hit escape. Now you will be looking at your UT desktop.

Click on "Multiplayer" and a drop-down menu opens up.

Select the option for "Find Internet Games"

Select the "Internet" tab. Server names should start populating your list unless we need to add a mod to make this work.

Give it several minutes to load all the way then click the tab that says "Server" above the server names to sort them alphabetically.

Now locate and right click on the greatest server of all times called "Curious George's Redeemer Insanity" and select add to favorites.

Rinse and repeat for any other servers you expect to play.

Tell us at what point these directions were wrong and you got stuck. To see MonsterHunt servers, you must have the MH mod installed. I have a set of directions and links to what you need. Just say the word.

Hey sorry for the late reply but i have located your server but as soon as i tried going onto it, it shut the game down backed me to my desktop and gave me a critical error saying D3D Driver: Encountered oversized texture without sufficient mipmaps. Not sure what i gotta do for that. i wouldnt mind joining anybody servers to play not sure how to add them or what. I have the game fully downloaded from a CD the Anthology one.

Thanks for the update. My turn to be sorry for the late response. Can you tell us which version of the game you are using? Are you connecting with a Steam install version of the game or from the disk version you have?

If the disk version is the answer, try switching your video renderer. Here is how to use a good one called OpenGL:

How to use the OpenGL Renderer:
(Print these instructions if you can)

OpenGL is a video rendering method your video card may be able to use to give you slightly better graphics in the game. Most semi modern cards can or do have this ability. It may be to your advantage to try the UT in this mode. If you want to give it a shot, just follow the directions below.

1. Go to your C:\UnrealTournament\System folder.
2. Rename the file called OpenGLDrv.dll to OpenGLDrvOriginal.dll
3. Go to this link and download this zip file to your computer:

http://hermskii.com/files/UTGLR2.8.zip

4. Unzip the file and copy the OpenGLDrv.dll to your C:\UnrealTournament\System folder.
5. Start the game and from the UT Desktop select options.
6. Select Preferences.
7. On the Video tab, select the Video Driver "Change" button.
8. A “Change Video Driver” option window will open. Select “Yes”.
9. The “Unreal Tournament Video Configuration” window will open.
10. Click the radius for “Show all devices”.
11. Highlight “OpenGL Support”.
12. Select “Next”.
13. Select “Next” again.
14. Select “Run”.
Done!

Let us know how it goes.
~Peace~
