MH-Portals...(WIP)

First half of the map is done. Second half will take roughly twice as long as it is much more involved. Here's a small teaser vid:
Portals

You'll recognize the opening room, but it's supposed to feel very familiar at first, then progressively less so, with a dash of unsure added in. If you've played Portal, this will seem familiar. If not, don't worry, you get the idea already.

Thar was sweet! On my end the video was grainy so I had trouble reading the messages on screen. The volume of the recordings changes from low to louder as each next statement was made meaning at first I had to turn up sound and by the end, I had to turn it back down being at work and all right now.

Oh dang! The video ended once it started becoming interesting. This map looks very good I must say. :wink:

Map is now ready for servers. The download is pretty big (40+MB) but I packaged everything together that is needed to play it. You'll surely have most of this already either in your cache or already in your install.

This map is designed for enjoyment. It tells a subtle story, and if you rush you won't catch it all. Take your time, explore, and listen. I very liberally borrowed from the Portal game and if you've played it you'll recognize a lot in there.

Its kinda hard to find the portals in each map, u should use something like Andromeda arrows or some kind of bright light source, or i could show u a way to make nice looking teleporters that cannot be missed :P

What? Just look around the edges of each area...

I just finished playing it as a practice match with 300 max health, but I can't get regen to work on my UTJMH so I had to use 20 health per kill and the "allammo" code in between zones.

Overall, good game!

It's a bit lacking early on but makes up for it later, and some of the messages are just so funny. To make up for my lack of ammo regen, I was using allammo whenever I got back to the hub, but I suspect ammunition will be a problem for everyone else.

nice little teleport design that may make this map look a little bit more stylish :) easy design

As always you guys are welcome to use things I make and do your own project. I just finished telling Bio by PM that the map indeed needs another week of work. I'm just so out of time right now, and this became a much larger project than I had thought. If you look in ed you'll see I had originally set the map up to have the second section but time and circumstances have prevented me from taking it fully to the end. I have several admins wanting me to project for them so I really felt like this was "close enough" to put it out.

Feel free to take this, make it much better, and re-release it. I can supply any of the textures and sounds you might want. I'd asked anyone if they wanted to help in the beginning and no one responded, so maybe now someone would want to pick this up and run with it? I'll get to part two eventually, but it's gonna be a while.

If u want Gopo, i will send u the nice looking teleport design and u can just replace the boring old swirly things with a proper good looking teleport :)

Just say the word if u want it, i'm happy to quickly design it and send it.

If no one decides to pick this up as a project, I might work some more in it in a couple of weeks. I think I'll replace the teleporters with free-standing portals to keep in the theme of things.

I really need to recode that portalgun anyways.

Okay, I got Portal off Steam and played it all the way through. That map makes alot more sense now :wink:
