Server refused to send

Post by a nameless entity » Wed Jul 22, 2015 11:20 pm

MH-Bluff server refused to send the file "spinner". So it is now stuck on that map with no way to get on and play if you don't have the file(s) it is refusing to send.

I presume you are talking about {MHM} and you are saying the server is refusing to send the spinner file so it is hung. I appreciate the heads up and will fix that late tonight when I get home.

Spinner has several version mismatches associated with it. You might try moving it out of you system folder and seeing if the proper version is hiding in your cache.

Another case is "AllowDownload".
If server has redirect, admins might put this to "False". It can be wrong if a file is missing from redirect. Server won't send it as long as AllowDownload=False because this is a server feature to prevent lagging when people were using 64k DSL lines at hosting servers for Dial-Up player.

If these runs in Win platform then "commandlet" to check packages is useful to do an examination if files are allowed for sending or not because yes, here might be a problem too.

Yes, I was able to play MH-Bluff okay. :)

However, while playing with Inhuman and Drunken Master tonight on MHM, we called up the map MH-Indiana Jones and I got another "server refused to send" error.

The missing file was called "Blank".

I could see that the other two players arrived okay, but I was left behind. :(

So now you got something on CG and something on MHM to fix.

More to follow when/if found. ;) :(

Edit: MH-Bird Brained Research Station: server refused to send the file "Warlord".

So as it stands now the redirect server lacks the files Blank and Warlord. :(

I could get onto bird brain earlier today. Thanks for the fix, Herm. :)

Oh, and yes, I changed maps to something far more fun to play. ;)

Fixed and fixed and fixed! I had not fixed the WarLord file till just now. Did you play from a different PC that had it cached maybe?

No matter. I have fixed 3 of them now so it is all good. Keep them coming. What I love is these certain files are all known issue files and I have fixed them before but when moving everything over to a new host with a new OS running the webservers. Sometimes they don't take kindly to upper or lower or mixed case names. My point though is there won't be to many more of these because like I said there were only a handful before and these are easily fixed. In fact, this new web home I'm on now is even easier than ever before. So feel free to give me errors.

It is best if you do it as you have been. Name the map and try to list the file that refuses to send exactly as it complains about it. For instance this last one complained and refused to send WarLord. I had warlord on the server but it had to have the capitals exactly right or it considers it a different file.

You are now starting to expose best reason #2 I had for wanting single file maps! Fixing WarLord just now likely fixed about 5 other maps that use that exact same music in them. Keep them coming! Thanks again!

No problem, will do. :)

And thanks for the good attitude. Back in the day when I was Inspector #170 at work, my inspection reports that listed a problem would sometimes get me the "you're making me look bad" complaint from the operators.
