Well, we had some good player turnouts for this past weekend on our servers - the good news! :wink:

Now for the "other" news ... (not really bad at all - but more like other) :roll:
I guess things went mostly as planned for the "Scheduled" games on {CG} and {CMM} this past weekend, but there was a bit of a SNAFU on Saturday night's game at {CG}.

I wasn't able to join in on Saturday night until near 12 midnight Central USA time or MY time.
I was really looking forward to playing with our good group on the good old {CG}, for ti had been a while since I had done this.
I opened up UT and went to favorites.
Nobody was in {CG} at that late time of the night, but there was a few in {CMM} - so I joined {CMM}.
I asked those that were there in {CMM} how {CG}'s game night went.
The response was that most didn't know we were playing at {CG} on Saturday night.
One player said that "Yes, there were some people playing on {CG} earlier".

I am not sure what to say here, or even if there is anything needed to be said.
We certainly can shift between servers in one night, but I guess what I am getting at is that quite a few players never heard we were playing at {CG} on Sat. night, and they should have known as I emailed out the notice to all the CROSSBONES Gamers Group.
I think maybe I/we need to be more organized or maybe this will just take some more time for everybody to get into it as to the Scheduled Game nights.
Well, we can see how it goes now.
I suspect it will get better - especially as it gets more instilled and routine in our Regular player's minds, and the new player's minds also. :wink:

Cheers for the great fun we did have and WILL be having in the future - it will only get better and better for here on out! :P

Hey - I want to Thank all the Old and New Regular Players, and all of the New Players, for the GREAT Turn Out on our servers this past weekend!
We were packing them in!
Like the Good Old Days of UT - well almost! LOL :lol:
We had near capacity on CMM several times this past weekend - AWESOME! :P
It is really fun to play with a large group of GOOD SPORT Players! :wink:

Most nights the earliest I can get on to play a few games is about 10 to 10:15 pm CST.

Of course these servers are Played Every Day, but the above Games are set up to be sure we play on those days and times, especially for all of the New Players that come into these Great Servers and discover the FUN.
ALSO: There are other servers that may have a few more players that were Spammed into playing there, and for that reason "they" call their servers the "best" LOL, but we all know Better!
Our servers REALLY are the Best because they truly are The Most FUN! :faroah: QUALITY - not just quantity!
You can not always judge a server by its "ranking" on GameTrackers.
GameTrackers merely shows how many *ahem* Players are told to play on some servers to keep the ranking up.
And many servers in the higher ranks on GameTrackers use Fake Players to accomplish a high ranking, but NOT on OUR servers!
The New Players that come into Our Servers Discover this very shortly - that our servers are Really FUN - they need only try our servers out.
Most players out there do not even know of our servers yet, but some day they will be enlightened when they REALLY try us out.

Yes, I see in the logs Nameless was there yesterday trying a couple of the 6 New Deemer Configs.
Thanks Nameless.
One comment he had: "Mahatma would have liked this map" - about DM-Fade I believe.
And also about The Howitzer Deemer config: "well no guiding hmmm"
(yeah, I read the logs LOL, so if you have a comment, type it in the game) :P
Yes, we can add guiding to any of these configs, but some configurations it may not be the best I think anyway.
Example would be for sure coupled with The Stinger II or especially The Thompson.
Those 2 especially are so fast they could very easily knock a guider out of the sky.

Is that why you don't like the Howitzer much?

There is usually a good reason to not use the guide function with some of these configs.
Some of these are more intended as a "Shooting" weapon.
These would be the 3 called...
"Stinger II", "Howitzer" and the Newest "Thompson".
For the most part the missile's speed for these 3 above is just too fast for the guide to be useful except in just a few situations.
The other 3 called "BIG BOOM", "CREEPER" and "KABANG" are slower and have the guide function, more like the classic stock redeemer, so guiding works better with these 3.
BIG BOOM has Both - you can right click (alt-fire) it and use either the scope-zoom view OR you can guide it.
You switch which alt-fire mode you want by using whatever way you would normally switch weapons in a normal weapons deathmatch.
The custom PirateRadarTranslocator is also switched to using the same method, however there is now another way to set it up so that whatever transloc hotkey you normally use can be used for this custom trans also - here...

I have had it so you can use ALL of the Configurations in ONE Map Game.
For the testing I used 5 of the current 6 redeemer configs. (did not use Thompson)
You switch which PirateDeemerCMM Configuration you want by using whatever way you would normally switch weapons in a normal weapons deathmatch.
I tested it out for a few days and it was cool to see all these different redeemers flying around at different speeds and with totally different explosions going off all around me.
You never knew which Deemer you were dealing with from another player.
This MULTI-Deemer set up worked well also and is part of the code for this New Deemer mod so it will work well.
Pretty COOL though, and a 1st for redeemer arena.
I am working on putting this on CMM still, but it is on the back burner for a bit.
I am not sure what combination of configs should be used yet mainly.

As with all, the Current Configuration Name pops up in the lower middle screen when you switch to a config so you know which config you are using at the moment.

I struggle with spawning/suicide. As a DM player, when u die, you are clicking like mad on the primary fire so you spawn again, but of course in deemer land, that means I fire when I spawn, and I promptly kill myself. It would be great to have that spawn protection for just one single second, that would save me countless suicides.

It is a good point. I never considered that as being something to hinder a DM player from playing but even with spawn protection if you shoot it still shoots right and the spawn protection turns off instantly? Right?

Not with CCProtector, it has two protections times that run concurrently, the first time being absolute guaranteed protection, despite firing. It's called MinGuardTime.

So I looked at it because I was hoping it had a setting to say the MinGuardTime would apply to self-inflicted damage only, but it doesn't. I was hoping for this because then I could have a second of suicide protection, but I would still be available to kill for other players. So this is a good reason to think about updating this mutator.

The need for the protection varies. If I spawn and there is a wall 5 feet in front of me, I'm dead. If the wall gets a bit further away, but the blast radius is larger, I'm dead. If I had a second, at least I could go whoops and try to dodge behind something.

I suppose another way this could be achieved is to disallow self-kills for all the deemer configs. You many think then that the player would just blast away, so balance this with Arena (where the ammo is limited), and make sure the ammo count is not high.

Or I could get off my butt and submit a custom config for the deemer as Hook has posted.

If you do (get off your butt), I'd suggest to first increase the speed of the guided redeemer to twice as fast as the fastest translocator movement. I get tired of chasing certain folks forever just to get killed while chasing them and never really getting close to catching them. A deemer of any sort should always be faster than someone translocating away.

It should be a algorithm that dictates that whatever the speed of the deemer, it at least can can move while being guided twice as fast as a translocator running for its life.
