All {HOH} Servers
My servers all run from 1 box and it is having networking issues. I will keep rebooting it for now until I get a chance to resolve it properly. I may just move the servers over to a better box pretty soon. Anyways, I'm just giving a heads-up on why they have been down so much lately.

WOW, that is ONE reason I texted you today.
The Other reason was because your site and forum were also down - everything.
OK, glad YOU are OK.
Stay tuned folks.

I did not know the forum was down too. I wonder how long it was out? Nobody said anything. I didn't make any changes.

Re: All {HOH} Servers
I'm moving the servers over to another box tonight. I have them copied over already. Now I just have to configure the IP and all of that stuff and run the reg fix thing and it should be good to go. The old box had a bad cap that bulged and leaked. Low it reboots all of the time for no reason. It was filthy too.
The new box is equally strong but newer.

Re: All {HOH} Servers
Done! That was much easier than I thought it would be for some reason. I already see activity on {CG} and {MHM}.
The servers are now on a slightly more modern PC that is still equally strong being a Pentium IV 2.8ghz.. The whole system is still running on XP SP3. That bugs me but you know it is still getting it done pretty good.
I'm no longer limited by disk size which is good. the old one was just 30gb. The newer one is 320gb.
Let me know if it feels any different.

Any thoughts on TeamSpeak 3.
I'm thinking that I'm going to set it up.

Re: All {HOH} Servers
Some sort of failure happened on the servers box. It forgot my password. It won't let me login or it didn't till I tricked it. It won't let me change my account's password which is making me mad. The other day/month it complained it needed the original disk to refresh some files. I ignored it. Maybe this is what I get but the error had gone away by itself and I don't have that disk anymore anyways. Getting sick of the server box giving me issues. Whine, whimper, blah. You get the point.

Re: All {HOH} Servers
If XP asked for the original CD then it has decided that some system files are corrupt or changed.
If you say no don't fix them, it will ignore them and not ask again.
This is how you use some of the XP theme patchers, or it puts the original UXTheme.dll back.
If you only have original XP system files you can force it to run the System File Checker manually.
In the CLI or RUN box type;
SFC with a command (SFC /H to view help)
/SCANNOW Scans all protected system files immediately.
/SCANONCE Scans all protected system files once at the next boot.
/SCANBOOT Scans all protected system files at every boot.
/REVERT Return scan to default setting.
/PURGECACHE Purges the file cache.
/CACHESIZE=x Sets the file cache size.
I could compress an ISO of my current XP3 CD if you cannot get hold of 1.
Microsoft have a tool for swapping the key, so you can even re-install with someone elses disc, then change to your own key so it is legal.

Re: All {HOH} Servers
I was freaking out to be honest. i thought I had been hacked because there was suddenly a user account with a password that I didn't recall creating. I had my password written down and was sure it was right but the PC kept saying no. I finally used a certain program that let me clear the admin password and I got in to that account and after screwing with the whole thing a lot more I got it auto-logging back in with my credentials and all. It is working normally again but I am going to move it over to Windows 7 pretty soon.
Thanks for the offer Doc. I'm sure if i try hard I'll find my disk. I was thinking for a sec I got crypto'd. This server has to go on the back burner until I get the time. I have 1 more win 7 license but I don't think my serverbox can run on 64bit properly being an old Dell XPS400. More later.

Above is a malwarebytes-type program that runs silently on your computer and prevents crypto locking. It has a free version and I'm running it on all my systems.

Re: All {HOH} Servers
I like the idea of little programs that run silently in the background and protect you from malware. I've been using Spyware Blaster for years. I understand that it is old technology now, but it still is being worked on and updated about once a month. So this crypto blocker sounds like a great additional source of protection. Thanks for posting the link Kelly!
