OK,
So how do I delete an old message in my outbox?

I have two outgoing PM's that have never been picked up, and they are both 2-3 years old.

IF there is a way to delete them, I sure as heck can't find it.

It seems I can still edit them, but there is NO DELETE BUTTON that I can see, anywhere.

Typically you click on the bottom right "Mark All" to select all of everything in your outbox.

Then in the field just below that, select "delete all marked".

That should do it.

No delete button comes up under any circumstance.

I cannot delete any PM's in the outbox, inbox, or sent messages box, because there is no way to do it.

I never said there was a button.

There isn't.

That "delete all marked" only shows up in the field after you select everything... and... huh.

Okay, you're supposed to be able to select that and then after things get deleted, but the option doesn't even pop up.

I have 9. I took a look and don't see how to delete them. I can't delete mine.

Not that I see at this time. Maybe when I upgrade the forum again it will offer a delete button.

Maybe it has to do with a permission that may be turned off / not allowed?
I'll check on my forum also, to see if mine allows deleting outbound messages that were never read.

There's a few other forums that have this same basic setup, where the instructions I gave above let messages be deleted.

Not sure why this forum doesn't.

I locked this place down real hard many years back after finding out certain admins were nuking other user's posts etc.

I took all admin rights away from everyone and even blocked a person from being able to delete or edit their own post after some certain duration of time. I certainly don't remember the specifics of those settings now but I never relaxed them and all has been good since until this issue.

I don't recall ever blocking people or managing in any way anyone's messaging here. I never blocked or deleted anyone's email or messages. I'll look around at forum suport forums and see what they say.

I am getting to the point of being willing to pay someone to move all of this into a new forum setting where everything looks and works right.

I'll have to look AGAIN (a bit harder) on my forum.
I did a quick look a while back and I believe our outbox PMs could not be deleted either.
