Player bot on maps

Post by EvilGrins » Sat Apr 28, 2012 9:38 pm

On MH-B99_MinasTirith I found that in addition to the monsters there was also a player bot on the map. With help of someone else there's now a skin on that bot, so you're not fighting a blobby green looking person, so the map has 3-way combat. You, the player bot, and the monsters.

Nobody likes each other, everybody's trying to kill each other.

I recently edited a map with only nali-cows as the monster. For the Hell of it, why not? I figured I'd add a player bot. Kind of a cattle rustler stopping the poaching of the herd (even though a player bot would kill the cows too) and I slapped a Judge Dredd skin on the player bot.

Thing is when I played the map the player bot wasn't visible.

First try doing this, not sure where I went wrong.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Cheap jokes at my expense?

Had this thing about playing with cows long? LOL

You like dressing people up and having them mess with cows. Is that right?

OK, I'm done with that. I have no idea why your bot's skin din't work could the skin have been for a different model or something?
~Peace~

I actually worked it out, I was selecting the wrong bot pawn from the list to put into the game.

This works out great. Now there's the cows you need to kill to get to the exit, butterflies you can try to kill, and a rogue Judge running around attacking the cows and the players but not the butterflies.

I guess he just likes butterflies.

Separate question, rather than start a new thread: Killing cows takes off 5 points which after this map gives most player -thousands of points. How do I switch the cows so you don't lose points killing them?

1) Cows and Nalis are negative scored as being inocent creatures declared in MonsterHunt (even 503). Better use MHAltScoring or give up using these. Why this scoring system ? Ask Shrimp. They are indeed negative scored but guess, bots will hunt them and Nali like any other monster. I think I don't need to spam forum repeating the story with FlockPawns assumed Butterflies unhunted by nobody (monster and/or bot). Score for FlockPawns = 0. Only some mutators might assign something for killing FlockPawns (usually unbroadcasted as kill message) I just noticed the function GetHumanName() not works by example for default NaliRabbit and Bird1. Nobody seems to believe me when I said about Epic's Flockpawns as being coding bullshits, but you will realize finally that you want to empty the ocean moving water from a point to another with a cup. To involve other classes than common monsters you need other pawns coded different (Bird3 by Loathsome) but I don't know you if you have results in scoring for MH.

2) Use a pupae with mesh from cow ( :D ) I mean wearing Cow suit.

1) Actually, it's okay. The butterflies are damned hard to kill that I only suggest it for people that love a challenge. Redeemers barely scratch them, thought it did before but turned out the blast just knocked the butterflies far away.

2) I dunno... A cow making pupae sounds would be kinda creepy.

I guess we'll just have to accept that nobody will get a high score on MH-Butterflies.

I've actually been trying out some old Infiltration skins on maps where the camo might work out well. Doesn't matter to monsters but other players might have a harder time hitting a player bot that matches his surroundings.

Not going to put player bots on all maps, but definitely a few.

I've been favoring skins that are primarily blue or yellow, as the player bot's HUD is blue but it reads as team gold. Might also go with some green given that yellow and blue make green.
