Big monsters are BIG

Post by EvilGrins » Mon Jun 15, 2020 12:23 am

I ran this idea off another forum, intended for MonsterHunt... about configuring GIANT-SIZED maps with GIANT monsters.

OjitroC took a first stab at it, came up with this:

I took a shot at it a bit later:

It may not be practical, increasing the drawscale also ramps up each monsters health but there are no projectiles that can be equally balanced out to that scale... but it could make for some interesting mapping options for certain projects.

Interesting concept. So you, the player are still tiny but the monster are big. Are they hard to kill?

Increasing the draw scale also increases the health, so with a standard Nali the size of a skyscraper it took 5 headshots to kill it with a sniper rifle.

So then what. Does it spawn another one? How many monster on the map total. You can't have 25 giant monsters in one map like that at a time right? You are tiny but you can headshot a giant monster 5 times and kill it? Sounds like the monsters are too weak. I must not be understanding something here.

Realistically? I dunno.

Was a crazy random notion. At this point it's likely not going to be a MonsterHunt thing, but I'm tempted to edit a few giant-themed maps with big monsters for Deathmatch.
