Guys we have been deeply involved in beta testing for the new mod and things look really good. I'm hoping for a release within the next couple of weeks if progress continues at this pace.

We set up a website: http://utsurvival.com/ It's fairly sparse for now, but it will give you an idea what's coming. I'm hoping that Survival will be the next evolution for the MH style of play. I get a lot of "can you make MH more fun, it's getting boring" emails. Hopefully this will satisfy people who want to kill monsters and not fool with BT or maprunners or all the bugs involved with MH. Monsters in Survival have custom AI to make them harder, smarter and tougher. It's very challenging but also very configurable depending on the server you'd like to run.

I'm very open to suggestions (besides GFY :wink: ). If you think of something that you just HATE about MH, let me know and perhaps I can address it with this gamestyle. We are still coding and including a list of goodies so it's not too late to add a good idea.

Looking good!

I must say the last build of survival i played was nice and hard which is great thing.

Also i see you have gone with the theme i suggested on the other thread of it being liandri organised :mrgreen:

My hopes that this can possibly find its way onto MHM3

So its kind of like invasion but more advanced right?

Invasion and UT don't really work well so we had to tweak and create a lot of stuff to get the feel right. The monsters are frankly pretty stupid, as I'm sure you see in MH so this was a bit of a challenge to get it to be tough enough to be worth playing.

I'm pretty happy with where we have gotten to and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised too.

A stationary bot/monster is what I dislike about MH.
I know where each monster is and it makes for an easy kill.
Monster repetition is boring in my book.

So I have an idea for a mod:
Being that MH is alway a race to the finish, how about a mod
where monsters actually compete/race against you?
I'm not saying all monsters...just one or two.
They start from the beginning and have to do everything you do.
Obviously they will be programed to have no problem finishing tasks.
But their goal is to kill you as well as finish the map before you.

Just an idea...maybe gopo will find it interesting.

The only problem that I could see occuring with that is
if there are the few monsters competing with us AND the normal map monsters
we would probably always lose since we would be out numbered most of the time.
Since they would have little problem getting through tasks and we would have
trouble with it having monsters killing us.
It would be a hard mod unless lots of people join. :|
It sounds interesting though if it could be balanced odds. :)

I've seen some talented MH players that would breeze right through it.
But if you're worry about monster skills...I think they can be adjusted.
Maybe competing monster would have the same health as real players?
Or maybe program the monsters to compete up to the end but never win.
Or instead of competing monsters use bots?

Come on people work with me here...it's you game I'm trying to save.
