So, tonight I went to the movies and finally watched Avatar.

I have to say that my expectations were low, but I have been surprised and the movie was actually pretty good. Like I told some of you, a few months ago I was invited to this event, some sort of world wide presentation of the movie, it´s trailer and some additional scenes (http://www.hollywoodnorthreport.com/art ... ticle=7399).

When I first saw those scenes I thought it was a brilliant job in terms of graphics and CGI. Now that I´ve seen the complete movie I can tell you is a master piece, never seen a movie with such graphics. However, I was not that excited about the movie because I believed it didn´t have a good plot. But now that I´ve seen the complete movie I can say the plot was not bad at all.

Yes, there are some subjects that have been explored before, that even could be counted as clichés (the capitalist/consumism vs protection of nature, for example). However, I believe they treated them in a different and creative way. I also liked the suggestion of the issue "which is the real world"; what is the "real" reality, the one with the avatar or the "reality" among humans. And besides, I´ve seen some similarities with the characters and the environment of Unreal 1: that actually helped me enjoy the movie.

Anyway, an interesting movie. I would recommend it.

the animation to this movie was great but in my opinion i think im not at the right age to enjoy the storyline. they had great world and would be perfect fo air battles (helis, planes etc) aswell as ground battles but for me the actual storyline turned into too much of a love story (excluding the bit where the army guy jumps out of the exploding plane that would of been a sick entrance to any game)

To me, it was the human race bringing death and destruction wherever it goes...
IDK why, but those Na'Vi kinda remember me of the American Indian... Maybe it's not just about the protection of nature.

OMG so true, the "floating mountains" are exactly like the skylands in Operation Na'Pali!
BTW Nali, Na'Vi... any relationships?
Oh and the "big tree" is exactly like the Tree of Life in Warcraft 3.
