President Poll

Post by David » Fri Oct 31, 2008 4:54 pm

I am just curious, about who you would vote for. I am not asking for reasons why, but on a small scale (population wise), who would you vote for.

It does not matter on your age or what country you reside in. If you want to vote, pick your vote.

McCain or Obama
Are you going to pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?

Obama. McCain is just going to be bush all over again. Besides all he really did in his campaign is say "Choose me because Obama is inexperienced.. Oh, and black"

Now I am sorry if that was not completely the case, I am after all just an outlander so I'm not too familiar with the US politics but that's what I got through.

John

Post by Hermskii » Fri Oct 31, 2008 10:42 pm

My vote is going for John. He has vastly more experience in every single aspect of being a president. He is a Navy veteran and former POW. He retired a captain in the Navy. He has been a senator for more than 20+ years, enough time to see 5 if not more of the last Presidents in office.

He wants to cut taxes for successful businesses to allow them to continue to grow and EVERYBODY knows you never raise taxes in any condition that resembles a recession. Poor people and poor companies can not give people jobs. Rich people and successful companies can. I'd much rather work for a big company than none at all. People who work spend money. Money spent improves the economy and creates more jobs. Tax the big companies and they will cut back people and production guaranteed. Those people who are cut now stop spending money since they have no job. Other companies suffer because they no longer have the business they used to have since people are out of work. They close down too. It continues until we're in a depression.

I expect Obama to win though I know John is the better man. When this happens if it does, I can't wait to see how screwed this country will be in 2 years flat. nobody will have jobs and we will be screwed. You'll see. The democratic party is more than happy to tax the people who worked and earned money to give it to the people who didn't. If I could just ask for it and get paid I almost would except that I'm better than that and I know it. Republicans find a way to make it and make it well. They don't ask for hand-outs. I've had the worst year of my life this year and I'm not about to ask the government to give me money they took from somebody who earned it. Democrats do exactly that in my opinion. Hell, look at how much republican officials give to charity vs democrats. Repubs give 10 times more and yet the democrats are supposed to be the ones that like to give. They do like to give to when it isn't their own money but rather other peoples money.

Obama likes to mention the billions that Exxon Mobil makes each year. Considering the cost to function verses their profit, they make about a 10% profit each year which is about what most companies hope to make annually and only the best ones meet or exceed. They employ thousands of people who buy food, clothes, cars and every single thing we buy. You start taxing them even higher than the amount they are taxed now and they will reduce staff, shut down plants and still make a profit but now thousands will be unemployed and in the job market vs you and your family. They will then need government assistance possibly which again is paid by you the tax payer. The government has "NO' money. That money is YOURS. You pay for the welfare recipients, the roads you drive on the people who give you your drivers license and lights that light up your streets. If people don't work, taxes aren't collected. If they aren't collected, your street lights don't get fixed and the pot-holes don't get fixed which is the smallest of concerns when you can't feed your family and can't buy gas because you have no job. You can't spread the wealth in America and think it will then all be better. It will crush the economy. You have to succeed in what you do. That is all. Anything less and you deserve to be a democrat who wants to take from the successful and give to those who have failed. Again, note they never give their own money. They take yours and give it to the people who failed or at least didn't earn it.

Look around. Find a bum in the road. Try to get a job from him. Did you? If so, how do you like that job? Did you ever get paid? With the money you may or may not have gotten, did it pay your bills and pay for your kids college? Did you earn enough for a new car? I bet if you got a job from a big corporation all of these things were possible.

That is enough for now though I'd love to continue teaching anyone who will listen about our economy. By the way, after many months of being jobless I got a job today! Obama didn't give it to me. I went out and got it and once again will make more money than most people. I'll pay more taxes too for that reason. I did not get the job from a poor man. I got it from a huge/giant company that offers all of the benefits and everything. It is way to late for many of you to know better especially if you already voted but if you just watch CNN and never watch the other side of the story then you are only getting half of it. Try to tune into some other news media like Fox News and watch it too for several days. Then tell me what you think. I'd bet money that I'm one of the very few here that can argue both sides of this debate. I am well informed and aware of each presidential hopeful's plan for our future. Do the math and you'll see that there is really usually only one choice when you vote for a party in politics. One party bases itself on the hope that you will succeed and the other bases it's policy on the expectation that you know that you will fail along with others. I vote with the expectation that I and most people will do what it takes to be successful. Democrats see the glass is half empty and ask the government to step in and hand out money to people who want it.

Don't get me wrong here. The past republicans holding office failed miserably over all but because they ran the country like they were democrats and not fiscally conservative republicans. If we (republicans) lose this election, we deserve to lose it because we spent money and grew government like drunken sailors or otherwise known as democrats. I feel that many republicans aren't going to vote and will let this great country fall into the hands of Obama just to teach everyone a lesson over the next few years.

By the way, this thread didn't even get me started. I can go for days but my hand hurt now. More about all of this later. Go get a job from a poor person and then let me know how it is working out for you. Also, when Obama wins, let me know the second you or your parents get laid off. Say goodbye to high speed and that cell phone. They will be the first to go when nobody can pay for them. PEACE!

Hmm...
Vatcilli said...Obama. McCain is just going to be bush all over again. Besides all he really did in his campaign is say "Choose me because Obama is inexperienced.. Oh, and black"

Obama has absolutely NO experience at anything as it relates to a prerequisite for being the President of the United States. Hell...John McCain was a POW in Vietnam for a longer time period than Obama has been a senator. Never has McCain said anything about the fact that Obama is half black. Dont exactly know where that came from. McCain will not be anything like Bush either although in retrospect I think Bush did an OK job as President.

Bigboss said...Mc cain wants to finish OIL (Operation Iraq Liberation) at any cost, sound good?
Wrong he wants to pass a draft forcing thousands more into the war.

Never has a draft been mentioned during this campaign. But...Freedom is not necesarily free and I would hope that my next President would not be wimpy enough to rule out a draft if necessary even though the chance of that happening are very slim. As far as the war goes...It most definately was in our nations interest to do what we have done. Other nations can appease these rogue nations but we should not. Listen to this war veterans beliefs and understand that if we dont defend freedom, then no one will.

To make an informed decision...you cant just listen to opinions of actors, news anchors and other TV personalities and base your opinion on their views. You have to have your OWN views based on the facts. If you keep up with politics and current events daily like I do, this election is a no-brainer...McCain is the guy.

First of all, people are throwing this experience thing around.
They say Mc Cain has so much more experience because he served time in the military. I don't believe that military service is in any way experience for a presidential slot. Experience in a executive office position is however , like a seat in the senate. Obama has been in countless positions in the government. Both are candidates are qualified to be president.

On the taxing of Corporations subject.
You make it seem like businesses have to be tight with their moneys cause they only gross 10%. Please! Do you know big this 10% is? It is freeking gigantic! And it is being spread to a very small number of people. The whole scale is not fair and need to be reworked.
Oboma doesn't want to tax small or medium sized businesses, He wants to go after the MegaCorps. They make ridiculous amounts of money.
This money you say was earned by these people? Yes it was earned but they did not work hard for it.
In this society the only way to truly make money is by having money to start with. The people in the middle class are suffering and all becoming poor because the wealth is Not trickling down to them. The few wealthy owners of big Corporations are keeping it.
You made the comment "Republicans find ways to make money and they do it well" Yes they are very good at stealing from everyone.
This is a day in age where the rich get richer and everyone else starves.
It is the natural progression of the system we are in. We need to change the system and our lifestyles.

I like Obama more then McCain because has strategy and definite direction. McCain didn't even have a detailed plan on how to fix things. Allot of money is defiantly going to the wrong places and being horded. Obama recognizes this and wants to attack it. He wants to change the system because it is a bad system! Obama is about redistributing the wealth fairly because it is not currently going in that direction.
Mc Cain is about business as usual and protecting the rich.

Thats my 2 cents anyway. :P

If you want redistribution of wealth go live in China, Cuba, North Korea or any other communist country and I hope it works for you. Obama has had no executive experience ever. What I state is fact...not talking points.
BTW...I make 40k a year and I am not rich. I will NEVER EVER vote for a democrat because they prey on uneducated fools who believe the bologna you believe. Im not saying you are a fool...I just think youve bought in to this notion that government can and should redistribute our money to those who may or may not deserve it. If the only people that could vote were those who actually paid taxes I think both of us know how this election would turn out. Personally I dont understand why others who dont pay taxes get to decide where my money goes.
What is also amazing to me is that so many Americans whine about how the country in in some sort of economic trouble and "people are suffering" even though we are the richest most powerful country in the world with one of the highest standards of living. Did you know that over half the worlds population cant even afford a pair of shoes yet we have it so bad. Pffft...whatever. To me...All I see is lies and deception out of Obama and if he wins we are truly doomed as a nation.

Does not matter, were screwed either way.
Whoever will get in will need about a whole term in office to fix what Bush had done, if things don't get even more worse earlier. Only then would things start to look better & a run for a 2nd term will happen (the only chance there where Palin would become president?).

Btw, there are other slim choices... like Ralph Nadar?

Nobama

Post by Hermskii » Sat Nov 01, 2008 7:39 am

Obama has never held a single other office besides Senater. If I'm wrong please point out what other office he has had. Palin has more experience by being a Mayor than Obama. Palin has more experience as a Gov then Obama. She has executive experience and Obama has none. For Mccain being in the army and K's opinion it has nothing to do with President is very wrong. Yes, it is not a requirement to be in the military to be President but I'd much rather have my President be former military than not and yes it does add a lot in my opinion to why I'd rather have John in office than Obama.

K your belief that the country needs to be re-tooled to distribute the wealth better scares me badly. Very Badly indeed. As HippieKat says, that is communism at it's core. If I earned 100k this year and you earned 50K do you feel that I owe you 25K so we'll be even? Do you feel I owe you anything at all? I sure don't. I earned it. It is mine. You deserve NONE of it. Let me repeat: You DESERVE none of my money. NONE! Why should I get penalized for working harder, better, smarter and more than you if that is how I made more money than you. That's right, I shouldn't.

More on this in a few more hours.

Pity you can't think far back enough to see what he has done (& by that I mean by executive orders as president). Here's a site to name not just 1, but 10 top "negative things" that he did: http://www.slate.com/id/2200774/
I'm sure congress had a few other things that were good, yet got vetoed by Bush though.

Btw, it seems to me that you're with the minority (based on the opinion polls on the worst rated USA president to date) who thinks Bush did a good job. :?:

My own personal thought is that I think McCain would be better for the country, but I feel as though Obama will win due to people want a change. It does not matter if it is a change for the worse, people just want change.

What can you do? You vote and then deal with what you are given. I remembered a comment from somewhere where it stated that McCain served his country longer as a P.O.W. then Obama has served as a Senator. I think that is somewhat humorous.

Concerning the military, I would rather have the leader of the country and military have some knowledge of what war/battle is like and about compared to someone who knows nothing about serving his country in the military. Here is a poll from Military, enlisted and officer.

I personally believe that Obama will be too liberal and that our country will worsen for it.

But we will have to face a threat as Obama some day. I could be wrong and if Obama becomes a good President, I am man enough to say that I am wrong and post that I am wrong. But part of my Official job is to be able to read people and what I see if Obama becomes President. is that we as a country, will be walking through a path that we do not want to go.

I kind of figured this would be the outcome of such a thread, I'm afraid that if we keep this up we might end up judging each other about this on things that have nothing to do with these selections.

Also I should have stayed out of this. I'm not an American so I should not get involved.

Vatcilli, take no offense of what I say. I am just expressing my view point as I see it. I do appreciate your view point as well. My Father and at least one sister is for Obama.

At the beginning of this thread, and I do understand politics is a touchy subject, I stated that I did not care about your are of age or if you are a citizen of the USA. I just wanted to see how this smaller population (MHM forum population) of people and the results of the poll will be in relation to the true voting outcome. An experiment that is all this was meant to be.

At first, I was not going to toss in my two cents but then I saw some comments and I wanted to share some. As Herm has stated in his statement, he did not even touch the surface. Politics is dangerous grounds and I was not trying to make people dance in it. I just like numbers, so I wanted to see how this number (poll results) would compare to the real number.

Thank you Vatcilli for expressing yourself. Thank you for all those who participate in the poll and/or express yourself.
