Home Delivery Carrier
Who do you think is a better home delivery carrier? DHL, UPS, USPS, FEDEX or other?
DHL is folding I believe, at least in the US.
UPS here in my town just sucks. There have been times when I do not get a delivery until 9pm. I have also tracked a package all the way from its origin and then to the "out for delivery" status (meaning it is in town on out on the truck for delivery) in town but I never received the $400 computer item. The only thing I can say good about them, my wife and I personally know a few of them (two of them) and they are decent people, those two.
FedEx, I can not say anything, because my experience with them have been decent.
USPS, can not say too much about them, for most people use the other carriers.
What are your guys' experience or views?

Re: Home Delivery Carrier
I like Fedex.
Why? Because I have good experiences with them. I´ve sent stuff and documents to the US from Peru and Brazil and also from the US to Peru.
In all cases the packages arrived very fast and in excellent conditions. For the service they provide, I think it´s not very expensive, thats another reason that made me choose them.

Am I allowed to post on this? I'm a supervisor/mailman and my brother is a UPS driver so I get a good look at several sides.
TBH the mail stream has dried up so much that service is out the window and the word of the day is "survival".

Re: Home Delivery Carrier
I've dealt with UPS and FEDEX and at times have had problems.
But the best that I have seen were carriers in Japan.
JAL and ABC airport delivery.
Say for example you land at the airport in Tokyo and want to have your bags
delivered to your house in Osaka at 6:15am tomorrow.
The carrier at the airport takes your luggage and at 6:15am the next
day they are knocking on your door. Not at 6:00 but at 6:15.
They are that good and that precise.
They are dedicated and take pride in what they do.
I don't see that so much with our carriers. I also have a good buddy
that works for UPS and he to has stories.

Re: Home Delivery Carrier
Most people don't realize it but a large (and growing) portion of packages are being handed by multiple companies. For instance every single day UPS and FedEx both drop pallets at my PO for delivery by USPS. It's cheaper for them to let us deliver. On the flip side we ship a lot of mail on UPS and FedEx planes too.

Re: Home Delivery Carrier
I usually use UPS. If it is a very serious situation then I'll use Federal Express. I tend to hate using any carrier or the US Mail period. It all started back when I was a little kid. I collected enough box tops and sent in a form to Kellogs to get some free school stuff. I checked the mail every day to see if I had gotten my stuff from them. Yes, I was so young I did not know better. After several weeks I finally got what I had ordered. The supplies I got turned out to be cereal manufacturer quality so everything broke and was much smaller than I had imagined when I ordered it. In the end it left me with a bad taste for the US Mail system and school in general.
Everything technically went perfectly but my perception at that young age of the entire transaction scarred me for life. My grandmother helped me to do all of that by the way. Thanks. I had lost her about 20 years ago and not thought of her in forever.
