Herm you could tell me those tweaks for UT again. The ones that require you to go into preferences via the console. You gave me a trick that increased framerates online a bit, and really ramped them up offline. Plus a couple of other things. I've forgotten (again) what they were.
As far as the ping wars go, I see all the stuff I've spoken about before:
-Lob a rocket into someones hidey hole, and nothing happens, and there's no place for him to go. Somehow the server doesn't see that I shot a rocket in there...
-Spot someone and (left button) shoot first, but he lives closer to the server, so his shot back counts more than mine does, and he gets the frag..... and doesn't get killed by my rocket, because it didn't count or something, as far as the server is concerned.......
-That strange huge exaggerated blast zone effect I've spoken about before, that is proportional to how shitty your signal back and forth to the server is.....
-In a full house with nothing but spraying going on in a tight map, my rockets would burst in the air and often kill me, but it seems like everyone elses just drill on through the air ok, and kill me too....
-That this stuff only happens when there's more than 3 humans on the server... up to that limit everything is fine, but then as more come in the worse the above gets......
I see this on your server, and Meat's the most. Somewhat on Kids. Clan Dou's server was always good, but I think it is down for the count. Hasn't been running for a long time that I can see.
Oh yes, and I never saw this "Expletive Deleted" at Bo's server, because he lived
near me
I never realized a lot of this was lag effects way back when. I thought it was just me, that I doing something wrong. But after two years of playing monster hunt, and seeing a lot of weird lag stuff happening in there too, I was able to figure out that it's all just various manifestations of lag effects.
Redeemer servers seem especially vulnerable. Perhaps because all those rockets flying around strain the servers resources badly.
