2 instances of UT on 1 computer?

Post by Fuzz_Ball » Wed Dec 02, 2009 9:38 pm

One on the C:\ and one on D:\.
Can this be done with no conflicts?
Of course they won't be running at the same time.
I want to play around with Ued but don't want to affect my regular setup.
Oh and plus I currently have the 451b patch.... (I know, I know...)

Worst case, I'll just install it on an old beater desktop I have.

Why not just add the 2 to your C drive under different names?
Currently I have 4 UT setups on my C drive.
UT_Server
UT_Player
UT_Practice
UT_UZ4UT

I play on one UT install (Player) - My server is on another install on C (same as player)
I have several other servers I keep on "D" a flash drive for portability.
I can run them all at once if I wish - no problems.
Yes, all at once on my 10 year old comp!

Just install UT up to 436 and just use it for Unreal Ed.
It won't hurt any other install at all or even its own install.

Yes, you can run more than one instance of UT from the same PC at the same time. There are a few rules to follow when doing it though like changing the game port (7777 by default) on each install to ensure they don't conflict with each other. There are a few other things to consider that I have forgotten about by they are listed in the how to manual available at www.hermskii.com
