Four quotes today. They seem to complement one another.
The first one especially echoes the ideas in books that I have been reading the last five years or so. I've been realizing that I need to read them again. It's winter, now is the time to do so.
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
-Steve Jobs

Take a chance! All life is a chance. The man who goes furthest is generally the one who is willing to do and dare.
-Dale Carnegie

One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half.
-Sir Winston Churchill

Carry the battle to them. Don't let them bring it to you. Put them on the defensive. And don't ever apologize for anything.
-Harry S Truman
The books I have been reading stress peace and understanding, but it's quite apparent that President Truman's quote is speaking of party politics.
I think the reason that I like this last one by Truman is the last sentence. One important point made in one of my books was to never apologize for not being the person that others want you to be. You would never succeed anyway, for that's not why you are here!

Good stuff. All of it.

Based on the old saying "The squeaky wheel gets the grease" a guy at work today said to me to "know when to grease the squeaky wheel and know when to just go ahead and replace it."

I thought that was pretty good. he was about 22 years old. I was impressed. Was I complaining right then is what I'm wondering now.

I wish this speech had been for real, from a real leader.
WARNING: Listening to this will induce random "dust in my eye" and "just clearing my throat"

Timeless words. I liked the images in the alternate video for the speech. Nice find, this stuff! 8)

Yes the imagery works well.
Normally I dislike those videos made of pictures, but it is done better than most.
The addition of the music makes the passionate speech so emotive and powerful, I wish our politicians had to sit and listen to it before each session.
They may be a little more subdued and treat each other with a little more respect, rather than shouting at each other and looking for opportunities to put each other down.

I never liked this guy or his politics. But the truth behind his wry humour here rises above his own personal failings:
Why does the Air Force need expensive new bombers? Have the people we've been bombing over the years been complaining?
-George Wallace

Another from Sir Winston:
However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.
-Sir Winston Churchill

Yep, too bad most people can't take a lesson from dogs and animals. :P

In the [hopefully] better late than never category:

Thanks for your post Terraniux. I love dogs too. And for all the same reasons. :)

My forgetfulness above makes the following quote that I found today all the more poignant:
Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.
-William Arthur Ward
