World of Tanks

Post by a nameless entity » Sun Jul 24, 2011 10:28 am

My brother showed me this game yesterday. It has nice graphics, and good game play.
It's an MMO of course. This one is free to play, but if you're willing to pay you can buy "gold" and speed up your stats so that you can advance to the nicer tanks and self propelled guns faster. (Does this aspect sound familiar? Like playing on the so called private Lineage and WoW servers? ;) ) However you do earn credits to enable later upgrades just by playing the game. Being on the winning side, or just surviving get you more credits per battle.
Like all MMO's there seems to be a lot to learn in the game. I think this one might be worth a look see. I am currently reading up on it. I think it is still in early development and the version number is around 0.65

I may register today and give it a try. First I need to find a page that describes the minimum specs to play the game.

If anyone here has played this game please chime in and tell us what you think of it. :)

Well it looks like technically, I am out. I meet the minimum cpu and video specs, but I only have 1 gig of ram, and the game wants 1.5 gig. :? :(
I may give it a go anyway though, because the game looks to have around the same graphics as UT2k4, and I can play that ok. ;)

I've never heard of it but it looks cool. Granted, this is coming from a guy that had an Atari 2600 when he was a kid and was hopelessly addicted to the COMBAT cartridge.

After "sharing" all that heat and humidity with us up here fella, if you have any cool breezes you pass them along too. Maybe you should go live up in the pan handle? I understand it cools off up that way nicely. ;)

When my brother first showed the game to me, I remarked that it looked a bit better than "Tank Battle" for the Intellivision.

So are you guys in? I have not downloaded it yet. If I play it will be as "Glider", probably. If enough HOH'ers join in, we can do the clan play part of the game and conquer the world!

Ah, Pitfall... Sometimes I just would hang on that vine, swing over the pond out of crocodile's reach, and leave to goto the bathroom.

Adventure rocked but I had a limited attention span when I was a kid.

Noooo! You! Really? LOL. I played Pitfall to death. There was another one that had to do with castles and dragons. That one had the first easter egg in it I ever saw. I recall you had to carry a bridge to a certain place and then walk across it and it teleported you to a certai nroom which listed the names of the folks who made the game. I think it was called Dragon but I'm not sure.

Pretty sure the castle & dragon one was Adventure.

Geez, you guys liked Pitfall? You must have been kids, alright. I tried it on my Intellivision and took it back to the store to exchange for something else because it was so boring.

Now Activision's Atlantis, that was a good game for its day. Too bad if you survived past day 10 or 11 on the Intellivision, the game would crash. The guns would fire on their own as the siren went off but no enemies showed up. A strange purple shape would go from the bottom to the top of the right side of the screen too.
