Galaxy
Just wanted to mention that I finally got a smart phone a few months back. I have had a flip phone cell phone the whole time. Thought I didn't the smart phone. Now I can be mad at myself for that.
My first smart phone is the Samsung Galaxy S3 and it is totally bad to the bone. It does almost everything. I never miss anything now as far as emails and such and have the calendar syncing from several accounts all at the same time. It takes killer pics and cruises the web fast.
My point to this is simple. It is worth it to sign up on a expensive 2 year contract to get one of these totally killer phones. It has been a life changer for me and I hope that if this helped you decide to get one that you enjoy yours as much as i have mine. It is a LIFE-CHANGER!

Re: Galaxy
Not for me.......not yet....not until I am forced to. Why? Costs of data plans. I remember I used to have a Nokia
Anyway, I then went and got my Motorola. I have had this phone for years. Just recently I added text to my plan. Not because I wanted to, I hate texting (why spend minutes texting a message when you can call and say what you want in seconds) but because my wife wanted it so she could text a friend of hers. It does what I need it to do and nothing more. Sure most others I know can do more with there phones (check the internet, record video), but I just do not want to PAY $$$ for data plans.
My cell phone is a PHONE that I am able to use in most places.
and people joked about how big my phone was (of course that were joking about the size of the phone were not around when the "portable" phones first came out. Remember the bag phones? lol)Anyway, I then went and got my Motorola. I have had this phone for years. Just recently I added text to my plan. Agreed. My phone is a tiny clam shell that would be too difficult to text with anyhow. I absolutely refuse to look at the emails my provider sends to my phone, and I've made it clear to everyone not to send me texts, because I won't answer them. TALK to me instead!David wrote:My cell phone is a PHONE that I am able to use in most places.
The cell phone finally justified it's existence to me a month ago when the clutch failed in my bike and I called the CAA to come and get me.

Well isn't this funny. A dyed in the wool conservative who likes the latest thing, and a "liberal" who day dreams of becoming a complete Luddite.Hermskii wrote:Just wanted to mention that I finally got a smart phone a few months back. Re: Galaxy
Hey David. My old one was much like yours:

I'm hoping this picture is showing up. I need to learn how to work this forum. LOL
Yay! It posted. Now I know how to do that! Good! yep, that was my Verizon Revere. It was good and all but listen to what i said.
"Life Changing"
I'm trying to say it is worth it but note also that i didn't do it until my work started paying me $100 per month for it. Otherwise, I would have stayed with what I had but only because I seriously didn't know any better. If you can afford one.........do it!

Re: Galaxy
My wife just got a Galaxy - not the S3 - a bit smaller model.
She loves it - every bit as good, if not better than an iPhone. (as the media says too)
My wife pays less than $50 a month, and phone was cheap too.
PS: I myself still do not have a cell phone!

Re: Galaxy
I'd say that it depends on your budget if you want to sign up for a 2 year contract or not, in fact none of these equipments are necessary for life, it's just luxury, but if your budget allows you to, I would say go for it! I recently got my Galaxy note 2 and i love it! it has a huge 5.5 inch screen so things are easy to read, and a great battery life with its 3100 mah, I don't know how it is in USA about data traffic, but here I pay less than 50$ every month (contract for 24 month) I get 3 GB free internet each month over 4G! I tried this in one of the bigger cities and a signal by 3/4 pins I tested the speed of the 4G and I was amazed, a download speed of 75 Mbps download and 23 Mbps upload could it be better?
I have 4G almost everywhere, Iphone can go to hell, their stupid way of rather think about publicity than of their hardware in their products sicks me, as a lot of peoples lacks the knowledge of hardware and Iphone manipulates them to believe their products are best, but look at it like this, my Note 2 costs new in store just as much as my Note 2, and it only has a dual core and 1 GB of ram and no 4G resource nor Bluetooth either and theres many more things I won't bring up now, and my note 2 has 4G (wich I got 75 Mbps down and 23 up in a bit bigger cities, and about 25 mbps down outside of these cities) it has a 1.7 Ghz Quad core with 16 GB internal memory and 2 GB ram and a huge screen and a great battery, and I personally think it looks better than Iphone too. So why the heck get the Iphone 5 if you can get a double as good phone for the same price?

Re: Galaxy
OK I've looked at some images and it appears that the note 2 is a bit bigger than the S3? So I'd be tempted to think of the S3 as more of a phone, and the note 2 as something a step down in size from an iPad?
Ah, here we go. That was an interesting read.
My nephew got a free iPad as part of his enticement to enrol at the University of his choice. That was cool although he already had one of those similar devices made by the competition. (Dunno which brand.)
I forgot to ask him which one he has decided that he likes better at Xmas.
I watch him surf the net on those or his mini lap top, and a few swipes at the pad or keystrokes later he has the answer to whatever question we throw at him and ask him to look up online.
I guess that's kind of cool. I often think of something to look up when I'm afk, or sitting here surfing, but by the time I get back to the PC or finish what I'm doing first, whatever it was that I had in mind to look up is long gone, never to return.
I tell myself it couldn't have been too important. And it usually isn't. But I wonder if I had one of those devices and and looked up stuff right away, if I would remember what I looked at the next day, or week? Probably I would not!

Re: Galaxy
Hehe, well I guess it could be seen as a pad rather than a phone, but as it is still smaller than a pad, I would at least never use an ipad or any other pad to call with as I've seen peoples walk around and talking in a pad just like a normal phone and I must say, it looks stupid! The note 2 is a bit big, but you( at least I) get use to it, and the funny thing is if you then hold any other smaller phone like the galaxy mini or others it will feel very weird.
I think the note 2 is extremely comfortable as it's just in the size to have in your hand and make a call or have in the pocket, but the big screen still makes it very easy to browse the web.
