Re: UT99 assets
There are already plenty of places that do what you are talking about. So why are you saying you want what is already there for you? I'm confused.

Like Herm said, there's already plenty of places to do that... unless you're referring to stuff for your own games. Somewhere that people who play on your servers can goto download stuff they might specifically need to play in your games.
That's a good idea... if that's what you meant.

Re: UT99 assets
Dragon, this is the kinda thing I mean:
http://www.phoenixut.com/downloads.php
PhoenixUT are a sniping clan. For anyone that may join their games they provide a download page so instead of waiting however long it takes them to normally get whatever's running in a game from just trying to login, they can goto that page and download all the mutators and whatnot their particular server uses.
If I ever get around to hosting games again someday, I'd probably do the same just for the skins I run.

Re: UT99 assets
What I am trying to do is make a map and I hate the way UT99 has their assets, you have to pick apart a map to get some textures meshes etc.etc.
The one thing i like about UT3 is they have an editor that you can run from the desktop, and you can go get textures and meshes and stuff like that.
That is the question I am asking.
thanks for your input.

Re: UT99 assets
All the standard assets of UT99 are in organised folders. Look in your original CDs.
All versions of Unreal and UT come with an editor.
All versions of the engine store assets in a similar way, and import and export in a similar way.
What you want is for all authors to not MyLevel their custom stuff.
They usually do that for a good reason, or you would see the separate .U, .UTX, .USX files etc.
UT2003 and above use static meshes as a file-type, so they can just sit in a folder.
UT99 does not work like that, but Unreal 227 does.
Exporting a texture, sound or brush is the same in all UEd versions.

Re: UT99 assets
Ah, not what i thought you meant at all.
When you do get this all sorted out, putting custom textures into the MyLevel is a good idea. DO NOT EVER change the existing .utx files because it will cause file conflicts with anyone trying to join your games.
You kinda lost me with this. The editor for ut99 does run on the desktop just fine, unless you've got a seriously weird version.Dragon wrote:What I am trying to do is make a map and I hate the way UT99 has their assets, you have to pick apart a map to get some textures meshes etc.etc.
