Knew I saw a thread about this but couldn't find it.
If I don't wanna go the AVGfree way, what are some other good ones?

On the Tom's Place website, it seems Kaspersky is now considered the #1 free AV. Avast has fallen to 3rd place. Scroll down the page to see the list of the best free anti virus programs.
PC magazine still likes Avast the best overall.
I'd still recommend Malware Bytes Free as a back up or good stand alone option, if you want to keep it simple. I used to use it to scan my entire system at the end of the day before I'd shut down for the night. I never had any issues that way.
