So Nameless Entity, what type of computer are you looking for, besides one on sale. Is there something specific? I am curious because I am sure with the people on this forum we got people that have items that could help. Just asking.
Are you going to pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?

Don't worry about Nameless. He has had about 8 years to buy a new PC and finds a way to talk himself into waiting longer to get one. He may get one... one day. But I doubt it.

I have lots of stuff lying around that doesn't get used. Surely we could get him something going.

That is very kind of you and totally up to Nameless if he wants to take you up on it. I hope he does and lives happily ever after.

Re: I'm Nervous for Nameless Entity
I'm taking a chance on a library pc to see when it will be my turn to get my 1st vaccine shot. (Yes, I'm paranoid again, what with the damn variants and all)
It will be in April, it seems.
My Dentist got another $1500 out of me last month. Last October/November I lose a capped tooth, then another one tried to go the same way, so I lose the old cap to repair the base, and replace it. Makes for a good excuse to put things off again, though.
Herm, you are right. There's no excuse to stay offline, other than my disgust with the local high speed ISP's and their thieving price points. But it makes the motivation low.

Re: I'm Nervous for Nameless Entity
Still not dead! Or online.....
But I get my 2nd covid shot on Sunday July 11th. So in mid August it will be safe enough for me to have someone come in and install "Bell Fibe" the latest and fastest "type 5" or whatever it is they call the latest internet whatever it is that will be so much faster. Bell Fibe isn't available in my neighbourhood just yet, but will be soon, according to a Bell salesman who called me a couple of months ago.
So the timing may work out well for me. According to a TV show I watched about PC reliability, that HP pc I was looking at may not be too reliable, as HP is down in the ratings. And with only 45 minutes per library session, it's damn near impossible to figure out which brand and model will be the best purchase. No one knows just yet if the next stage of reopening will mean we go back to 2 hours per session. So more damn waiting. I want to be online for the winter.
I haven't been around because the library was closed for a few weeks or months again, due to the 3rd wave of Covid 19 here. But now that 50%+ of the population has had both shots, it's open again. We have all brand new computers here, with new keyboards too. Same old monitors, but I'm sure the next increase on my property taxes will take care of that nicely.

I am so mad right now. Enough said. I'm about to do stoopid stuff. Yes, I spelled it like that on purpose.
