Helping out

Post by Hermskii » Tue Jul 26, 2011 10:44 pm

I'm trying to help out someone here. They need a manual that can teach or explain how to make mods. Anybody have anything I can send him? he mentioned something about needing to be able to make .u files too I think!

Help a brother out? Thanks!

Umm, a manual can be founded or not, I found informations on Internet but was described as being © All rights ..... bla bla and is not permitted to reproduce that tutorial, beside this was not too completed. Anyway I can describe how to modify - recreate a small U file. I'll try some explanations, to avoid spam a forum with a bunch of informations I think I can edit a PDF document with a short description about how to create a U file. After this I can send the file via e-mail to be hosted by anybody want it.

Warning, don't expect me to be an awsome teacher (especially at drawing part - i mean making icons and other images in mutator), I'll show only a small part according to scripting an actor or mutator. Can be used in both ways.

If you are agree with an outside document I go to edit it.

Here are two GREAL tools that I recommend. Go to http://www.wotgreal.com/, and download the "Version 3.005" and the "Exporter".

The Version 3.005 - This is what you code and compile with. It also has help files, to a degree.

The Exporter - allows you to get source files and textures etc from an existing package. You may need this later as you get more experienced.

Like Nelsona says, no manual, it's all on the net. Here's a starting point:

Here's a forum to post questions:
http://forums.beyondunreal.com/forumdis ... ad1c&f=101

And any instruction Nelsona would put together would be very helpful to step through an example.

Someone who has not identified themselves to me all of the way sent me a tutorial for you MARS.

The english in it is not real good so I'll try to fix that and then upload it here for you to download it. It looks like a really good tutorial too.

Hey people, when you send me stuff always include your Player / Forum name in the email so I know who you are. I can't associate all of the real names to player names. There are simply too many of you. Just say hey something like "Hey Herm, it's Keller and here is that tutorial you needed."

Thanks all.

Appologise, Sir I sent it, I though that you have some e-mails history and I considerred not necessary to write everything there.

Back to subject. I can rewrite such a small tutorial in a different way, depending on user, depending on level of knowledge.

LOL. I was going to guess it was you. Thanks for sending it. I think it is pretty good as is. I will just change a few words to make them fit a little better.
