Trading Corner

Post by David » Thu Jan 22, 2009 1:47 am

This is close to Herm's Needs post, but this is where you can post what you might want to trade.

As an example, I have an extra G.SKILL 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Desktop Memory, the condition is new but I do not need it for my computer already has 3gb of memory and I am on windows xp, and the extra gig (4gb) does not improve anything that I have noticed and windows would only recognized 3.25 due to the xp limitations.

What I would like to get would be CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory. I have a friend with a Dell computer is a need for memory. I know this memory would work for his computer because I have the same memory in my kids computer.

Not a bad idea David. I will sticky this topic. I also want to say that I think most people will resist this due to wanting to maintain their privacy when it comes to their actual identity but I'll support this effort none the less.

Now, about your trade. Naturally I admire your effort to help your friend especially when you are offering to get the short end of the bargain by trading more for less but I'd suggest that you keep your extra gig of ram because it is likely that you will upgrade to Vista prior to buying a new PC. In that event, it can see and will want that extra gig of ram. 32 bit Windows XP is limited as you mentioned in how much ram it can see and use but the 4 gb amount will be no problem for Vista someday or even Windows 7 when it gets released to replace Vista. Peace.

Thank you Herm.

I also have some extra ram that I no need. It is 2 sticks of 256mb ddr pc2700u. One is a Samsung and the other is a ProMOS, they both came out of a Dell desktop.

I also have a Motorola Surfboard Cable Modem. It is a SB4100 model. There is nothing wrong with it, just my provider does not support it no longer so I had to upgrade.

I do not have anything in mind to trade for these, just offering an open trade.

Concerning the trading, if someone post something that sounds/looks good to you, you can pm them and work out the details in private.

This is a great idea. Perhaps someone <cough HERM cough> could be the middle man to protect identities if someone so chose?

BTW, I'll make a laundry list of the things I have computer wise and post up. Most of it I'll never use. Be nice to see it go somewhere useful.

I also have some more memory, I am not sure I got them, it has been that long. What is labeled on two of them is 2x32 60NS EDO Simm. I have two more that look like them but is made by PNY 322007-S51T116JD

Speaking of cleaning out the closet I would be careful...I hear that MEAT is still in the closet. I'm sure that playing against him on a server wouldn't be half as bad as him coming out of the closet. Hehehehe. OK OK I'm just kidding. It just came to mind so fast to say it that I had to take the shot. Sorry. Stay on topic. Stay on topic. Trade stuff not shots.

Okay Mr. Hermskii...if that is your real name?
Speaking of "in the closet" don't get me started with you and Chuck Norris.
Rumor has it you're President of the South Houston Chuck Norris Fan Club.
And I won't mention the secret hand shake you guys use...
