TempServer is now closed for public play. Herm will be installing his mod shortly.

I didn't mind you guys playing on it but the admin abuse has become a serious issue. There has been mutliple complaints about people using admin all the time, and now I see one MHM kicking another off the server. Sorry guys, funs over.

It has been an accident gopo, "PlayerA" kickvoted "PlayerB" using the mapvote window but he ("PlayerA") was instantly kicked out from the server. It seems like everyone playing on the server this night was having root admin powers without being logged in at all. I fear the adminlogin pass was messed up.

That may be true but why did one MHM member feel the need to kick another from the server? I'm just not wanting to have to deal with all that stuff. I clearly saw players hunting other players and a lot of cursing and complaining. It has steadily gotten worse even though I have asked for it to be addressed. Players got bored and felt like impacting other players games so I just removed the server. I have what I need anyway, and Herm will be loading his mod soon so this is a good time to put things back to where they were.

Most players were frustrated because of the TeamDamage penalty of the BeefBowl mod so they lost their temper somehow. :?

It doesn't feel good when you spend half an hour collecting 1,500 points, you kill *by accident* a team mate and your score goes to zero, especially if that happens more than once during the game.

Of course this can not justify bad behaviour.

**I should start by saying that the new test mods today were pretty fun and different.

I saw a lot of hostile horseplay and maybe one player had enough of it and retaliated.

I don't need to name names.

On a side note regrading the scoring:
I know Gopo, you are not personally concerned with points but I like to know how well I am doing in a match and I'm sure other players feel the same way.

There was an incident I saw earlier where I was suddenly awarded a lot of points for what seemed to be no reason. The "game" seemed to think another player had killed me and I was being "paid back" for it. I am positive only monsters killed me on that map.

I looked at the damage code and here is the way it works. Whatever is responsible for taking your last point of health is awarded the "killed". You might have gotten a small bit of some odd splash damage you didn't see and that was what put you over the total.

We'll try running that with NoBoost so the team damage is removed and I'll bet the scoring is much more pleasing. If not, and this is something worth pursuing, I will simplify the scoring and remove any loss of points.

I would make some speech about MHM not being a single entity so don't judge us as a single player, but if the server has already been closed then I guess there is no point continuing...

Still, It's only a matter of time on any server, 1-3 MHM's make a mistake and we're universally disliked.
Oh well.

The problem I have with MH is it's to repetitive.
Sure the maps are the same in all UT games but in MH you know what
monster is next...you know what direction you need to run in next...you know
what weapon is best to use...etc
And once players master a map they tend to not care anymore and act stupid.
It's different when your hunting real people...a totally different mind set.
Not that I play a lot of MH but I get real excited when I see new maps.
Or I get real excited when others try to help me.
Other than that you're looking at a boring game once you know the map...in my opinion.

We play alot of maps with the goal of finishing them, as many if not more than the times we play around.
MH is indeed repetitive, but in a way that's the beauty of it.
We're a skilled group and we know it, so we have nothing to prove, and MH is usually very much self paced. Because we know roughly what will happen in a match, and we know we can win as we have so many times before, we can stop and smell the roses.

Some players see us playing around and say things like "god im surrounded by noobs". People who consider finishing the map to be the only goal clearly havn't been playing long enough to realize how repetitive it is, and that they are ironically noobs themselves.
MH is the best gametype for friendships, you can stop and talk as much as you want, you can fight side by side if the mood takes you, and your not forced into being eachother's enemies.

To sum it up:
The playing around is as important as the combat, you need both to be a MH player :P

Most of it or maybe everything what Bio said is true.
If we want we win 10 games in a row.
And why we should play ''boring'' maps we already finished 9999 times before.
And as everyone knows, MHM is going to goof around when there is a boring map on.
MHM always is playing(or)goofing around.
And like bio already said, the people call us ''noobs .aka. naabs'' is just funny.
Why play if we already played the map 9999 times or why play if we know we can beat the player that calls us ''noobs .aka. naabs''

The main problem you guys are not addressing is the fact that you don't contain your "fun" to the people who want to ignore the game.

And if it is *so boring* why not move on to something else? I think it's because Herm tolerates this stuff. It wouldn't matter what the gametype was, there would be a group of five or six that still sat on the server doing this simply because it's not tolerated anywhere else. You guys keep finding that doing this on other servers isn't welcome. That should tell you something (but it won't).

Herm is one of the most respected veterans of the MH community. Just because he takes a "hands-off" approach doesn't mean he likes it.

I'll make a prediction: Even with Herm going to all the trouble of testing, installing, and creating the new mod you guys will still ignore the maps and gametype after three maps. It's not about the game or the mod or the map. It's about "I can do what I want".

Why has this stupid subject risen again.

Gopo please dont say this "I can do what i want" crap because its simply not the case.
we goof around because we are bored of a map we have finished about 100times already.
Anyway where has this people calling us noobs for doing this came from?
I've never seen this, apart from the grumpyness on KB server on that one occasion.

If people dont like the goofing around then screw them. They need to realise its just a video game and go play elsewhere because we are not hurting anybody or being abusive. Thats just my opinion tho.

There are plenty of other servers out there for mindless non communicating MH fun.

As for trying out new things, Invasion is fun if only someone hosted a server with it.

Actually, Hermskii and many others used to "fool around" on the old SRA servers, etc.
And CG for that matter - posing for photos etc.
I guess that IF it really hampers other players than Hermskii MAY not want it at that time.
At least that is the way I see it - can't speak for Hermskii.
I would think that some fooling around is OK on most servers.
That is Part of the fun and comradeship of the game.
