Well, The
{CMM} server is back up and Definitely seems to be working well.
First day up ( Sunday 3/14/2010 ) and 8 players were on it - a few of the Old Regulars found it again also I see.
Now back to checking maps and adding the Good ones out of my Vast Map storage locker!
Reflecting back on the past couple months...
Yes, I put a lot of time, tweaks and effort into Keller's servers {CKD}|wSp| and {CMM} - both times!!! - as he moved hosts one time also and just when we got them going good on the first host! arrg.
Then, same thing now on the 2nd host only he decided to shut them down now. arrg again!
(He has good reasons though)
BUT - The rental servers worked very well and were even fun and OK to operate and service.
The experience spanning 2 Game Server hosts was very educational though and I am glad to have experienced it.
I learned a lot - especially about running a rental server.
But, I am like Hermskii - I would rather host it myself.
I just wish I had a better upload bandwidth, but it is very rare now days to have any more than 5 or 6 playing at one time anyway I guess.
It will for sure be better when I get our new computer so
{CMM} doesn't have to compete with our other computer tasks and usage that causes lag to the server when we are on it.
(My wife may even shut the server down at times when needed - gasp)
When I get another new comp., I will then just streamline my old comp to run the server and let it be by itself.
That day will come sometime and it will be good.
