Any questions???

Post by Hermskii » Sat Jan 25, 2014 12:22 pm

I was running all around today on the internet searching for things I needed to create documentation for a solid UT install. While doing this i came across this page of awesomeness:

http://my.opera.com/Unreal-Tournament/b ... tournament

Any questions?

It is certainly convenient, but it can become a refusal for a new player who sees ut for the first faith.

This is why I prefer a complete optimized UT. Or a package that is self install update in 1.

I think that is a very valid point Medor. For me, this is also a functionality test for me to see some things with my own eyes. We are talking about UT installations right?

Q: How come it took you this long to find my list ?

I just found it convenient to add all the patches and updates to 1 page so I can find them quickly. Just a list. No real instructions.
It is the basis of the more in-depth posts at Hooks 8)

Yeah, yeah, you can stop moaning Medor, your UT99v3 is on the editing resources page
Some people already have UT, but may only need 1 or 2 of the small updates.
350MB is a bit much if you don't need it all.
I recommend it to people with patch 451, that want a separate mini install for editing.

Note. Medors UT99 v3 package installs the menu icons to " **\Start Menu\Programes"
So in English Windows you will not see any new icons

Also, besides these great instructions, do not forget about Hersmkii's UT Manual - great installing instructions in there.

Thanks but that old manual needs some major overhauling. I'm still not ready to jump on that project. I'm needing to test out Non-OpenGL-S3TC options next after this installation guide project...

I am loving all this "what-if... ?"
The game has been around a loooong time, and we have just bolted new info, on top of the old.
Various updates are available, and it is good to see where they clash or combine, as some cover the same territory, or make another obsolete.

My posts at Hook's place are the first time I thought to categorise everything properly.
The list at Your Unreal, has been edited over time to be in order of what seemed sensible, so the further you get to the bottom, the more optional they become.
This is still the list I use regularly, but I have been using the new ones at Hooks.

BTW. Herm. there is another similar list/page for UT2004 (again based on the info at Liandri and the old BuF downloads page).
http://my.opera.com/Unreal-Tournament/blog/ut2004
I made a point of finding all the Linux and Mac patches and server versions.

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

On a single shift, usually about a shed-load (that is old imperial sheds, not modern metric)

Ahhh yes, another page of goodies. Now it is listed here as well. Good! Eventually it would be nice to collect everything like Skillz and Medor have done and have an offering of it somewhere too along with the actual files from everything listed on your pages if they aren't already collected. Yeah, that would be awesome. i'll be working with Medor more closely later on. I don't have the money to grow and maintain like Skillz tried to do. I'll never ask for money from people and don't think I ever have either. I'd like to have a pure goodness free for all at some point but it will have to wait forever maybe. My money has greater things to support right now.

Unfortunately Medor has no interest in saving the UT2004 files, so when UT-Files becomes available again, I will ask the web archive if they can harvest it.

UT2004 is also now an old game and needs the love of the community to keep it vibrant for the next generation.

I'll have to go though the 2K4 links again and see what I need to re-host.
As recently reminded, not everyone can access the Gamefront files, and most of the mirrors are UT-Files and Atomic Gamer (not ideal).
For the moment Google drive is ad-free and convenient.
