Re: some of the skins I've made/edited
After not really skinning much at all for awhile, too many projects and a mountain of requests, I got a bit burned out. Thought the best way to get back into it was to do a hatchet job. Something very basic that's been lurking around in my head for awhile.
One of the first dozen skins ever made for ut99 by players was the Orch:
Really basic, no team colors. Not great but not horrid... and butt ugly.
Tail end of 2011 I picked up a cyberbully. A truly sick individual who when he couldn't bother me with his usual crap, he started making threats towards my family. Like going after my younger family members, stalking them, kidnapping them, and it doesn't get any better from there. He wasn't actually doing it but he delighted in describing it to me, and if I blocked him he'd just make a new account and start all over again.
Guy used to bug me a lot, then after a bit I gradually thickened my skin so he barely bothered me at all... which isn't to say he stopped trying.
I eventually nicknamed him 'the nitwit'. Also kinda helped I started naming bots after his online personas, he had a lot, and used it as therapy to blow the holy heck outta them with ut99's more devastating weapons.
This is the nitwit skin.
Been in my head for awhile, finally put it together tonite. Overall build time, I'd say 45 minutes at most. Kinda screwed up the team colors, which is why it's only on 1 side and just that one leg... but this is a skin for me and that color streak is big enough it can be seen easily enough from all but one side of him.
Borrowed armor parts from the Medieval Knight skin, and the pants from the Bikers.
Switched the skin color to yellow because, as with all bullies that've ever lived, the nitwit is a coward at heart.

Re: some of the skins I've made/edited
Some of you may know I've something of an obsession with Bizarros. If you don't know about them, they're imperfect clones of superheroes in DC Comics with chalky skin, warped thinking, and usually talk kinda weird.
I've made a couple skins of them before, decided I wanted an Aquazarro:
First draft was promising...
...but I was gonna do team colors and the sleeves didn't work for that.
Second draft...
...bony extensions can pass for armor from sea creatures, both on shoulder and on the rims of the gloves.
Team Colors...
...not too thrilled with the red yet.
And the talk texture:

I'd like to point out when I first slapped this thing together I was told team colors were unnecessary.
I may not do much more than this. Still thinking.

Along with my other distractions...
...Judge Dredd.
Skin on the left is part of Chris Ollis (guy I get most of my superhero bases from) 2nd superhero pack, the one on the right (which medor sent my way) is the Sylvester Stallone movie variant. Neither has team colors and I'm still trying to work out how I'm going to go about giving them some.
Most recently (also thanks to medor) completed skin edit · http://unreal-games.livejournal.com/87589.html

I agree. I wish the reptile skin could be seen better.

Re: some of the skins I've made/edited
To accomodate the rough design dragon suggested I had to darken the skin significantly in order to bring the red out in the scales i was trying, and even theen it barely worked. The original skin is a lighter more reptilian green, which i don't have an exact picture handy of.Hermskii wrote:I agree. I wish the reptile skin could be seen better.

The Reptile Warrior:Hermskii wrote:That's ok. I'll wait.
This is what I used as the base for Dragon's skin. Comes with 4 faces, no team colors, and an extra skin in the pack.
The Reptile Soldier:
Comes with 1 face, no team colors. Used to wear this most often before I learned to skin, for playing on Red Team.
In order to make that first one reddish, as Dragon wanted, I had to darken it enough that the tint edits I did to the green scales brought out the reddish hue best. That and to get the Dragon logo on the armor right I had to darken the armor enough for it to match.
I've been using bits of these Reptile skins in skinning projects for awhile now...

Re: some of the skins I've made/edited
That is one of the best skins I have ever seen. Great job. I like the orange version and think there ought to be a more realistic iguana green version as well. maybe there was already. I'm color blind for certain shades of green so maybe I just can't see it. I can tell the last one was green but I mean a darker, deeper green.

Re: some of the skins I've made/edited
There's only a few skins i've ever seen with that much detailing in them. The skin isn't on what's left of Skin City, so a fresh download to find a readme with the original author doesn't seem likely.
It'd be cool to see more of his work.

Re: some of the skins I've made/edited
I haven't had internet at home, so I'm kinda gonna have to just describe this for you.
I finished the Batzarro skin, mostly.
Head, gloves, boots are all a deep violet blue. Body, arms, legs are muscular but white. Team colors are on the inverted bat symbol, front & back: just says "TEAM" in each color.
Toying with making a bigger belt. Dunno why but almost every skin I do I always do the belt last.

I do a lot of Bizarro skins, which is a DC Comics reference if you're not familiar with it. I did a Bizarro Lantern a stretch back, which originally looked much like my other Lantern skins, then I got the flu and in a fever redesigned it to something horrid, and then just recently finished it to this:
This is the flu-version:
Some of the previous Lantern-themed skins I did:

Re: some of the skins I've made/edited
I'm not a huge fan of DC Comics' New52 but I've a weak spot for Bizarros which is what prompted this:
Been turning this over in my head a couple months, only thing was actually getting around to doing it... which was last night.
Only took about 30 minutes to slap this together:
Skin isn't done, as this particular Bizarro has a bald/shaved head on his right side. Bald is trickier than you might think on a skin, if you want it to look halfway decent.

All of my Bizarro skins:
Bizarros usually have unusual team colors. That purple 1 on the left's team colors are just his boots.
