What was the map name?

Post by Hermskii » Tue Jun 25, 2019 11:23 pm

What I recall is Nameless determined this map had two names and both were on the server atr the same time. Three words come to mind about one of the maps name. Giant Gas Bag. What I recall is at a certain point once you have pressed a certain number of buttons in the map that must be pressed to get to the next room, at some point a message pops up saying something like "You released the "Expletive Deleted"" and then this super fast Skaarj soldier thing kills you and everyone about 15 times before you can finally kill it.

Anyone remember the map? I want to play it with my kids who are now 14 and 12. Yep, Hermskii Jr. is now 14 and halfway to 15. He holds several records on BunnyTrack maps. That's all. Let me know the name of the map if you recall.

There's a MA (Monster Arena) map like that, with no switches and a room upstairs with several kinda of super tough Skaarj.

You can only fight them 1 at a time as they're behind forcefields until the current loose one dies.

Thanks EG. I'm pretty sure Nameless knows the one I'm speaking of and I think I may have recalled that I made a tracking list of maps I removed. I keep it in a text file on the server. I'm going to look there as see what I find. Thanks!

Found it! It is called "MH-GiantBoss2" and there is the same map with a different name too. I don't recall the other one's name. I tried to play it by myself but died too many times and lost the hunt. The map is hard if you don't know what to do. I actually never realized how bad it must seem to others but for us, back in the day, when {MHM} was by far the king of all MH servers, we played this map a ton and loved it. It had the first mini titans that could still throw bi rocks and kill you. That "Expletive Deleted" Skaarj trooper thing killed me this time around. 25 times in a row if I had to guess until I lost. I restarted it if you dare!

MEDOR<

What is the MH-U4E version of that map?

I will now have to pull down all of these and check them out. I already have the same thing as your version 2. I can't recall every playing version 1 and have no idea about that U4E version you have.

Is this skaarj boss the LAST monster in the last room?

I recall a map with 4 teleporters at the start that you had to open one at a time. Finally you would have to drop down into the basement and hope you landed in the lava and not on the floor (splat!).
Then you and your team mates each spent many lives trying to defeat a huge skaarj that was very fast and had tons of health, in a small to medium sized room. After you killed him you got to go on to defeat a titan and something else one at a time in a larger room. The last monster was a queen. The skaarj boss was the toughest of the lot, especially in that smaller room with little health, and lava pits to land in that drained a bit of your health as you tried to get out fast while avoiding the skaarj boss all at the same time. It was a busy end point!

Am I talking about the same map? Or a different one?
I'm a man........but I can change........if I have to........I guess

A good recall which captured my attention for a patch-plugin intended to get loaded in this map while it's running. This is not the worst map, it just lack in a few techs, also it's a bit ugly but playable.
I think I'll drop it into NfoServers public playground but... only after I'll get done with plugins for it:
- Bot Support;
- healing and loading spots;
- adding a few lamps;
- tweaking lightning in several zones;
- and so on...

Yay!

Map MH-GiantBoss2 is running now in original version at Monster Gaming Server hosted by Schwartz and... has (non-public yet) plugins that are loaded by server in run-time. More or less known mutator NavAdder is hunting any possible available plugins for each running map except those which are white-listed, if any plugin it's found it will get loaded and initialized. Here we do have those common tools: Server-Side and Server-Client part (new stuff which client will need)
How goes modifiers:
a) Server-Side more or less replicated:
- adding Navigation usable by Bots;
- moving the door from Left to be identical with door from Right near beginning;
- spawning MonsterWayPoints for having Bot targets available;
- changing dumb setup for movers.
b)Common stuff - packages with actors that have to be figured by Client - these are automated as ServerPackages by NavAdder mutator without any editing:
- changing AmbientBrightness in zones - it's too damn dark - and cleaning a bit the water specific fog;
- nice bright lamps;
- islands will have some plants and trees;
- last combat area has Ammo and Vials;
- MonsterEnd doesn't need that cylinder - too tall for nothing;
- Ammo load and respawning time is accelerated because monsters have X times player health and I don't use regenerators in all MonsterHunt versions running there - yes, there are two MonsterHunt types running in the same server;
- Adding a randomly timed message informing about patch presence for avoid players to be confused: Why the same map works nice in this server and is different at home;
- Adding three tentacles having a random health range and a random appearance;
- And Sir Giant Boss aka KrallElite won't go funky by not taking splash damage at that 20 DrawScale - Scale setup is lowered at 3.5 - Engine running there allows damaging it properly...
So far it looks like I brought another map from Trash-Box in a public play-ground without the use of Editor, lol.

I found constructive reading this forum when it's about some speech related to UT...
