Turns out threre was a box I needed to check after the game is loaded - it's an option to use 'Software Rendering', and says if you use ATI or a couple others, that you should check the box, so I did, and that was it.

Hey "ShadowOfDeath" to come...long time no kill.
Sorry about the unchecked ATI box. I'm not familar with that issue but maybe
someone here can shine some light on the subject?
And as for not being able to play my server, is there an error message or is this an unchecked box issue?

Yes there is, that's why I'm able to play now....I have the GOTY version from '99...after the game is done loading into computer, it gave me an option to use 'Software Rendering', for those who use ATI, others....

What's the link for ? if it's to help playing on Meat's server, it's ok now - I'm able to play on it.

One last time, then I give up. You need to read my manual and do what it says. that is, unless your video card is a 8 year old built in ATI Rage-Pro or some crap like that. If your video card has 32mb or more of memory, then using Software Rendering is just stupid. Read the manual. Follow the manual. Use the manual. Live happily ever after. Thanks!

Hermskii is right!
The only time you would need Software rendering is if you do NOT have a video card!

Ahh....I run the GOTY version and I know the option now. During installation it's mentioned.
But I didn't know it had any effect on connecting?

Mine is the 2 disk set - not the GOTY and I have the option also!

I haved Goty and regular UT. I have never seen the option. Please describe it for me exactly as it occurs. I would still avoid unless I had a crappy video card.

That's because I have it blocked for everyone that is playing when I'm playing.
