Instagib in quake2 is much more fun...there is no spray and pray. Does Unreal have a gun that could be used as a single shot instant kill??? If so that would be a cool game to play.

There is where you are missing the point of the small and mid size maps. You still have to do these very things that you are saying, but you have much less time to do them. The fact remains that you are trying to sell your opinion to people that have played this mod for years.

The point I am trying to make is this. What difference does it make in how anyone else plays the game as long as you are having a good time?

Also, I noticed that during a game, you berated a player for voting in the middle of a game. You called him a noob. Why would you say that?

I think you meant checkers (split second decisions)...not chess (long strategic worked out plan of action)?

noob? Actually I use the term newbie (it's not as demeaning looking) and it's exactly what it is. And voting to change a map during the middle of a game is disrespectful and inconsiderate to those playing and to those who voted for the map in the first place...much like not saying "gg" after a game...unless it's not a good game? (can't believe I had to answer that question)
And as for depth, I'm not "trying to sell it" but I hope the people that have "played this mod for years" play it for more then just a way to kill time? Are you just killing time? Learn to break the game down/try to get more out of it. My point I was trying to make was I'm hoping they are seeing and are getting more out of the game then just a win or a lose. Unreal is a game (meant to be fun) we've all said that from day one, but you have Frags and you have Deaths. Next time you play look at the guys/guys that have less Deaths than Frags. Usually not that many. Do you know why?
And it's probably best if you read all my posts before you comment on anything I say or anyone else says for that matter. Hate to see you misquote me or anyone else....again.

Other than the "noob" versus "newbie" mistake that I made, please provide me with some other misquotes that I have used against you or anyone else here for that matter. Oh, and my apologies for such a blatent lack of knowledge to mix the terms noob and newbie.

I really could not care less if you have taken the game and looked at every line of code, so that you could "...break the game down/try to get more out of it". If I so choose to just waste time on the game, then so what? I payed for it. I pay for my internet connection. I play as I want to, providing that I am not taking away from the enjoyment of others (known as laming). I do not act as some superior athority and tell people that the way that they play is inferior.

As I have stated before, you may play this game as you wish. If you are only good at one style of play, the squeeze the most out of it that you can. This is mearly a game to be enjoyed, and not some philosophical quandry where we must seek to find it's hidden truths.

I have pandered to your trolling enough. Please feel free to continue though, as I find your ways of thinking entertaining.

I'm sorry Herm but I really know very little about computers. The machine was a hand me down from about 4 years ago and I use DSL.
My neighbor has a cable modem and I'm surprised on how much faster his is.

OK BUT, I knew very little about computers a few years ago and now I'm a certified professional. DSL is good. It usually gives you the same bandwidth up as down which is usually half as fast downloadingcompared to cable modems and twice as fast uploading. Now, tell me how fast the PC you are on is. That means what speed is your computers processor rated at? If you don't know, that is OK as most of the world has no idea what speed their computer runs at. Does it have stickers on the outside? What do they say? Do any mention the term Pentium? If so, can you tell (if it has a sticker on the outside of your box) whether it just says Pentium or Pentium II, or Pentium III or Pentium IV? OR, does it say AMD on a sticker on your computer box? Sorry for typos, I'm drinking as I do every Friday and usually Saturday night (only). Does it not have a sticker at all?

That works well for making screen savers and that is about it. BTW, the answer to your question about the UT equivelent to a Quake II rail gun is the Pulse Rifle with the Instagib mod. It looks just like a Pulse rifle but it is orange instead of blue. The mod is listed under your mutator section. Select it and start a practice session. You know, you and I have played it before. There are also a great many servers that run that mod and others that run a mod called "Zark" which is the regular rifle that shoots an instagib beam instead of a bullet. This allows for sniping which is just another aspect of UT that Quake stole the premise from and called it's own! Forgive spellingh. Am drunk!

You have a Pentium IV and a DSL connection. You are well ahead of the game my friend concerning your hardware. The only setup that may have been better to run a server on than mine is yours. You see, my download speed is 3,000. My upload speed is 350. Your download speed is going to be about 1,500 and your upload speed will be around 500-600.

What does this mean to you? When running a good server, all you really need is a Pentium II with a speed of about 350mhz to 500mhz. Your PC is a Pentium IV meaning it runs at least at speeds of 1,500. That is pretty fast. If it is less than 2 years old, it is over 2,000mhz. So, PC wise, your are ready to go.

UT serving also only requires a small amount of upload bandwidth depending on how many players you want. It is said that if you give 50 units of bandwidth to each player, they will have a smooth game. I give 40 to each player to stretch the amount of players I support. You said that too many players sucked so this plays well with this example. You said somewhere tha tyou preferred no or few bots. Lets just say that you get 500 upload bandwidth with your DSL. That said, you should easily be able to support 10 players.

OK. there you have it. Ihave more to say but I asked for somer special training at work today and Ihave to go in to get it. I'll be back home tonight. MEAT, how old are you please? Male/Female? Rate your PC skillsets with hardware and software on a scale of 1-10 vs most PC people you know. There are no wrong answers here. This is just to help me determine future efforts towards this thread. I know I can support bots and players...I just don't want both at the same time.
As for my age (I have mentioned it in earlier posts) it has nothing to do with my skill/knowlege/education/income/sexual preferences...etc
Overall, I've played Unreal for awhile but not the redeemer.(just trying to have fun..like all the rest) And if you're looking for "depth"....I've been down that road before and it seems that no one gives a chit.
And if you're looking to Punk-me....just do it.
But I'm still going to try to make this site/game better than it is now. (If not for other then just for myself) Just hope you appreciate what little I'm doing?....and I know "you don't need the help".

C'mon mannn! MEAT, I will never PUNK you or anyone else. It goes against who and how I am as a person. Just as it is in your nature as near as I can tell to bring a level of equality to situations.This is not an interview but it will help me to determine as I mentioned before, how far I'm willing to proceed with potential options I may make available to you.

If I had to try to profile you to this point, I'd say you are over 30 and since you say that you have already mentioned your age here before, I can't understand why you would force me search all over the forum just to find information you gave up willingly already once before. I'm 38. I'm guessing you are a male as I can't see a female ever calling herself MEAT in any situation. I am a male. You mentioned that you played Unreal for a while. That is great but this is Unreal Tournament and they are two very different games though made by the same folks and run basically the same way, Unreal Tournament is very different from Unreal. I never asked you your income or sexual preference but the fact you mentioned them indicates to me that you may be well over 30 at this point in your life. I never mentioned me looking for depth though I am enjoying your thread over at the DOU Clan's forum where someone mentioned someone else's depth in a questionable fashion. I don't care about depth as it has little influence to my decision making process about people. Good luck on your thread over there BTW. I do appreciate your efforts to make my server better for all but as I said before, I have already touched and retouched every single aspect that you could mention to me about it.

The server as is represents the masses or general opinion of the masses + my own twist on things (no cussing, lack of new maps, ping mods, and all of that server nazi stuff). I try to please everyone all of the time but I usually can only please most of the players most of the time. This currently puts you in the minority unfortunately but it doesn't mean I don't hear and listen to you as the sqeaky wheel does usually get the grease. So all of that said, Thank you. Ahhh...I think I know where you were going with this? (now that I have sobered up) And no, I would not want to compete with you or host my own server. With my rap who you think would play at my site?....lol Although I would probably win more games.
