Can you Identify It?

We got home last night and this was on our wall. The body itself was about an inch and then you can add in the length of the legs. But with all the people on the server, there might be one who can identify it. I live in the Northern Arizona, a high desert area.

P.S. I killed it, so do not ask what I did with it.

I can't identify it because we only have tiny spiders here.
Not much bigger than my thumb

That is a good guess. I do not know if it is a wolf spider or not but still a good guess.

I was looking up the wolf spider on Google and all and I realized; first off I am not afraid of spiders just as a side note; but I do not see what people find enjoyable about spiders. I think that they should be outside and not inside the home and if they are found in the home, then they should be eradicated. yuck.. I see stuff in my line of work so I do not get grossed out, but spiders do =yuck and why. I understand the useful spiders as "daddy long legs" that eat black widows and such, cool for them, but the others.... not in my house.

It almost look like wolf spider but they don't climb wall.

DESCRIPTION: Length up to 1". Color is variable from dark brown to light gray. Wolf Spiders have a light, peach-colored stripe down their cephalothorax (combined head and thorax).
NATURAL HISTORY: This spider may be found crawling on the floor (it is not a climber) in homes, but is not dangerous to people. In fact, they eat insects and other arthropods that may be a pest in the home. They are nocturnal hunters; use a headlamp or flashlight held close to your head to see the eyeshine of Wolf Spiders at night (you might be surprised how many there are out there). Wolf Spiders build a turret of sticks and silk over their burrows (see picture at left), unlike tarantulas that have nothing over their burrow

It was set free.. free from its limiting body and free from my house and free down the drainage system of this little city that I live in. That is what type of guy that I am. I am a person who likes to give until it hurts.

David that's a hobo spider. Damn good thing it didn't bite you, you'd have spent the night in the E.R. (no kidding). Look it up if you doubt me. (Thank you US Army for the "identifying dangerous spiders" class once upon a time....)

I'm leaning more toward the wolf spider.
Its markings are more like the wolf than the hobo.
Wolf spiders do come in different flavors in AZ.

Just be thankful it didn't have a REDEEMER strapped to its back.

but it just looks like a large house spider, house spiders can be pretty big and have all different colour differations
