Linksys Antennas, 7dBi or 9dBi?

Post by David » Sat Jul 04, 2009 1:46 pm

I am thinking of changing my two antennas on my Linksys WRT54GS V4. I am trying to be able to send out a better/stronger signal to my wife's laptop. I just have the standard/stock antennas on it now. I was looking and saw that they had 7dBi or 9dBi? It is Greek to me.

Any ideas or suggestions. And yes I know the suggestion about moving the router to a better location. Thanks.

Well i have no idea about this but id go with 9dbi just because 9 is a higher number than 7 :D. But often the thicker and longer the antenna the better. My mums router has 2 huge fat Antennas that about 3 quarters the way up become thin and it has an amazing signal. Even tho the routers in the attic its still very useable from the garden or even 5 houses down the road.

No clue but I doubt changing them will help. The main thing will be to center the router in a high central place in the house
