Windows 7
I just installed Windows 7 and it works perfect.
It's really fast with UT and also with uED.
With XP uED was loading slow and everything was pretty slow, now it loads in no time.
I was wondering if someone else got it installed?

I got a new laptop and it came with the free upgrade from Vista to Win7. I haven't gotten it yet though.

How do you compare it to Vista, Hellfire?
It doesn't surprise me they include the free upgrade. Vista has been good to me but I personally have suffered through many issues with the OS.

You haven't suffered with your OS as much as I've suffered with my nephews. LOL. I'm going to the beach tomorrow BTW. Wish you were here but I guess you have to work now on the weekends. Ahhhhahahahahaha!

Don't want WinVista, don't want Win7 they both suck as regards compatibility. Give us WinXP back or I'm gonna install DOSBox!
Everyone trying to play UT99 on WinVista is having lag/sound issues.

...which is to be expected when you install a game on an OS that's ten years older. Just takes some research and patience and it can be done.

Re: Windows 7
The lag issues are due to UT being a single CPU core program requiring a constant speed. Most computers sold now are mutli-core with some sort of speed stepping to throttle the processor. Both of these settings profoundly affect UT.

Re: Windows 7
I had huge lag with Win7 and my dual-core.
So I removed it and got the old XP back
But I have Win7 still on my pc, so I can start it when I want.

What gopo says is very true. But there can also be lag issues on a single core system, especially laptops. The super slow-mo lag issue I had within UT for awhile was caused by a setting in the BIOS Herm found called PowerNow Control. When enabled it changes the processor's multiplier to save energy. Disable it, and your laptop runs at full speed full time, like a desktop. Hope this helps any other laptop users that suffer from the slow-mo lag issue.
Hey guys get on MHM tonight, we'll play a couple games..you too Herm. Oh and have fun at the beach

Cool nali glad that could help.
Check your BIOS and let me know how it goes, if your BIOS doesn't have that setting, look here.

Re: Windows 7
doesnt anyone read the EULA? on windows 7 i have been advising everyone not to get until they check the EULA to see if it is still in there expessially people in the US. in one of the BETA for windows 7 it states anything and everything you want to download will be sent to microsoft aswell as your pc so they can see what you are downloading. keep with XP its the best windows out there.
