Ok here's my 2 cents...

Facts: me, Reiyel and Supreme were playing on the KB server, someone voted for the Andromeda_Ancient map and all players left the server but one. Supreme unlocked all powerups while we were killing monsters and trying to find the right sequence for the portals, then we started a random chat because:

1 - we have played that map 1 million times,
2 - we were tired because of the previous maps and we wanted to relax a bit,
3 - all players left the server but one, single player (not a whole team like someone else said)

As regards the lag issue, it was a random consideration among us, not an attack to the server.
Well, after some minutes of this chat a hidden admin told us either to play or to leave the server and we all agreed to leave the server without arguing at all, the KB server logs are clear.

Since I'm the kind of scrupulous person, I've decided to take a look at the Killerbee website to check out their rules, and I've found a thread dedicated to that specific issue on their forum.

We've been accused of spamming, whining, and being disrespectful towards the KB admins.

We took the time to register on their forum, apologize and give a detailed explanation of the facts and we still get sarcastic comments from someone on our own forum, even after Killerbee himself has declared the topic closed on his own forum.

I try my best to respect the rules while playing on other servers, but I ask respect for myself and the whole MHM community as well.

Now judge for yourselves.

Pots I'm not trying to split hairs here. Healthy discussion of issues like this will only result in positives, so don't be affronted by differing opinions. Rei and I happen to disagree pretty directly on this, but the debate is open, friendly, and quite positive to me. I completely respect your position, but I disagree with it. Really it is your call though because the minute you say "discussion over" I will respect that. It doesn't make the issues go away though.

KB is a really nice guy. He's quite tolerant and really tries to meet the needs of his players with as little conflict as possible. It's no secret I am doing some work for the servers there, so I spoke directly to him a little bit ago about this issue. I don't want to speak for him, but I think he's a bit more irritated by this than you are implying. Now me personally, I'm an idiot given to overreaching and zealousness which has caused me many apologies here, but KB is a solid, fair, and VERY good admin. The fact he had to get involved, lock a thread, and deal with this would make me re-evaluate what happened and how it can be avoided in the future.

I try to act more "responsibly" then usual on other servers, but this is only because my mind is saying "might as well represent MHM in a good way".

I act the good, obedient player until I meet other MHM's

You could study this group for partical physics, as differant combinations of MHM create differant playing styles.
Generally I get into trouble because when authority complains it doesn't make me back down, it does the exact opposite.
What happened on the UMH forums is a great example of this, gopo told me to back off and my response started with "oh come on!"

Since this is the thread du jour for today, may I take a little detour for just a moment and let everyone know I am posting an ENTIRE rip of my MH files (all maps, textures, sounds, etc) for download if anyone wants to get it. Be warned though, the (compressed) maps folder is almost 500MB and the supporting files are a bit over 1GB. Also I used 7zip (its free), as the uncompressed files together are well over 5GB. It will take a bit to get these downloaded and unpacked but you will have as complete a collection of all things monsterhunt as anyone could have.

I was not trying to minimize what has happened, and I'm even willing to be (temporarily or permanently) banned from the KB servers and/or forums, if that might help. Unfortunately we can't change the past, and apart from apologizing and trying to avoid these unpleasant issues in the future, there's very little left to do.

Anyway I know I'm not in the right position to say this, but I still think that one of the KB admins (Gem) can't come here and post sarcastic comments on the forum, cause they're totally uncalled-for in my opinion.

I'm on board with you on this. Discussion should be on the topic with no vitriol in the opinions. She keeps bashing me too but fails to see that by doing so it only clarifies why I did what I did.

MHM problems with a server will only end when we no longer play on that server

I read the KB forums, it reminded me how wrong the world outside our haven is.

LuckyLuke considering typing to be a crime, which might explain why he can't type properly.
Some other head admin doing a happy smile at the prospect of punishing people.
Gem making irritating remarks.

When I play on the MHM server I know we can do something else besides killing monsters and finishing the map. I know we can goof around like we have done before several times. I have to insist, like many MHM´ers have stated, that we do not interfere or bother other players in the process.

Unfortunately, we can´t do the same in other servers. Now I know this behaviour (goofing, chatting, etc.) is disapproved and in fact it´s consider bad sportmanship. I still can´t see why it should be considered bad behaviour but that´s not important; we can´t change other people´s mind. That´s why everytime I´m on other servers I play to get the high score; or sometimes, I don´t play MH on other servers and I go play DM instead. I think we all consider the incident on KB like an isolated one, not enough to tag a whole community as bad players. Again, we have apologized several times and promised it won´t happen again. Unfortunately, like POTS said, we can´t do more than that.

With this clarified, I don´t how I disagree with Gopo. Perhaps Gopo can´t see fun in goofing around, which I certainly do. If that´s the reason of the disagreement then yes, we disagree.

Conclusion: MHM´ers, when being in other servers, please limit yourselves to kill monsters. Limit the chat to necessary and always remember to think twice or more before making any kind of comment about the server, or lag, or etc. Always remember that other servers are not like MHM and they won´t ever be. We do not want any more trouble.

A tip for everyone

As usual I was ''rushing/running/dodging'' and I received a ''Windowed message'' which told me this: ''PupaePants: Why are you racing?''.
I thought like, what the hell is wrong with that?.
So later he ignored me and I found out that he ''hates'' rushers.
But some people are just toooooo slow and that is what I hate.
I don't mind to wait but not for people that are still at spawn and I'm almost at the end

The bottom line is, different servers have different rules that are enforced in different degrees, if you want a less "communist" atmosphere, play on MHM where we are allowed to talk all we want, goof around as long as we want. Videos games don't help you lose weight or help raise your IQ, they exist solely for entertainment, so if you're not having a good time, than you're wasting time.


Our rules and regulations differ IMMENSELY from those of other servers, but if we have the right to run our server according to our rules and ideas, the same right exists on the other side of the spectrum.


So, in conclusion, it is a good thing there are differing servers with different rules, it gives players a choice of playing atmosphere: hardcore, "just play the game" players have servers where they are comfortable; and players that want to talk and goof around have servers where their actions are welcome. Please choose accordingly and most importantly, enjoy the game.

It's true, we play solely for our own amusement, so if we have problems with the people who don't realise it's a game, then we should stick on our own server.
My opinion here is, we're MHM, if you play on a server that isn't our then your asking for trouble.
We operate on a completely differant level to other people, so if you wanna enjoy yourself don't leave the Cow on MHM wondering where you are and all run off to KB's to get in a fight with someone

This whole thing is a repeating scenario
We don't like MHM so we all move to MHMIII.
We don't like MHM so we all move to UMH
We don't like MHM so we all move to KB
We're like hermit crabs with attitude, and we will eternally get into fights with people until our own server has enough stuff on to keep us busy, and seeing as I'm nto sure that's possible, then we might as well all prepare for more scenarios.
