Re: Temp server
first a couple of responses: Ice, I am sorry if you felt offended, but it's about one word: Accountability. Yes, I have made mistakes but I'm the first guy to say "guys I am sorry, my bad. I take full responsibility." I don't blame my disease, I just explained what is wrong with me so you would have a better understanding of what I go through at times. I fully expect you to judge me over that. I am curious though, you mentioned my "Harsh and stupid actions". Which stupid actions were the ones you were referencing? My moving MHM3 because of the DAILY complaint IM's or my shutdown of UMH, of which you really don't know what was going on in the background? You see someone taking actions and because you disagree with them, they are wrong. Let me ask you this though, that night the Nali brothers harassed me into leaving MHM, what would you have done had you been an admin? If I were an admin and kicked them for a few matches would I not get lambasted on the forum for over-reacting and being too harsh, yet this is what you apologized to me for not being able to do. And if you think my response to Bio was harsh, then I am sorry but the truth is the truth. In game he's a blast to play with but on the forum he complains and judges, often quite harshly, and does that passive-aggressive start-a-fight commenting.
Look, I've had many, many conversations with you guys away from the group. Several of you have asked how to "fix" things and I've always been frank and open. The big problem I see is that you guys are just not honest with each other. Why is it so hard to tell a fellow MHM'er you don't like something they do, but so easy to burn up an outsider's inbox over the same issue? Dammit peer pressure will cure a HUGE number of these nagging problems. Tell people, even privately, the things you have told me. Honesty is good and though hard to take, can be very cathartic.
Herm and I had discussed the admin issue last night. I'm completely flattered, I must confess. Herm doesn't hand that out lightly. I know it will break a few hearts but I would have to respectfully decline. I could admin here and it would work, but honestly I just don't enjoy the playstyle. I would get so bored in the village maps running around not really doing anything. Also I have serious doubts that I would ever be accepted, and that isn't good for the group. In the end MHM is your guys, and it's not fair for me to upset that. I can see me being tested early to see how I would react and it would only go downhill from there. You guys tolerate me, but I don't think I'm well liked. It's fine though, I have an ex wife you couldnt hold a candle to
Now all that being said, I'd be glad to compress and add maps and do some of the background server work that is so hard for Herm to get to because of time. I'd always help Herm, jeez I owe him big time for things he has solved for me, and besides he's just a hell of a guy. I think doing background work where I don't impact the players directly would work well for everyone.
In the end it's up to you guys to make MHM sink or swim. Even if I were to be removed from the equation completely, you still have some fundamental issues to deal with as a group. Why don't you guys borrow a chat room away from everything and let POTS run a frank and open discussion among you all and air the things that are upsetting you? At the very least you should elect a "leader" whether they are admin or not and let that leader make judgement calls. POTS (again) would be great for this position, but it would require the members at large to respect his appointment and for them to apply peer pressure to the dissenters until they fall back into line.
Did you guys ever read "Lord of the Flies"? That's a lot of the group dynamics here. It's really quite striking. Anyhow, good luck with this. I'll be around but I think I'll be posting much less. All this upset and turmoil isn't something I enjoy and there really just isn't much I can do to help it. As always you are welcome to email me with any help needed and I'll probably be around for the implementation of the HOHMHM mod, but no need to worry. It will be temporary.
@ Bio: Dude I did mean it when I said I love you to death before. If you found my post harsh or too personal, I'm sorry. I still feel that way but I am sorry if it hurt your feelings buddy.

I don't know what all this NaabNali stuff is, did I miss something?Let me ask you this though, that night the Nali brothers harassed me into leaving MHM, what would you have done had you been an admin?
Yes, I have a differant personality for playing and forums, which I'll admit might be...noticeable.In game he's a blast to play with but on the forum he complains and judges, often quite harshly, and does that passive-aggressive start-a-fight commenting.

What? Why is it so hard to tell a fellow MHM'er you don't like something they do, but so easy to burn up an outsider's inbox over the same issue?

MHM is basically incapable of having a leadership figure, we all respect Hermskii but he almost never uses his authority in any way.Why don't you guys borrow a chat room away from everything and let POTS run a frank and open discussion among you all and air the things that are upsetting you? At the very least you should elect a "leader" whether they are admin or not and let that leader make judgement calls. If he did it would likely cause problems, we've had the run of the place for so long that we sort out all our problems through a big, satisfying argument. It may not be pretty but it gets the job done, and however we do it it's good that we can sort things out ourselves.
Quite frankly, anyone who wanted to be a leadership figure would need a finely balanced mixture of power and diplomacy, with serious trouble at both ends of the scale.
Meh, I'm an MHM, it takes alot more than that to hurt my feelings@ Bio: Dude I did mean it when I said I love you to death before. If you found my post harsh or too personal, I'm sorry. I still feel that way but I am sorry if it hurt your feelings buddy.

but harsh I did. You acted sometime in a too over the top manner when something
small would happen and you told us in your post a reason for this could be your
illness and the insomnia. Which we all understood once you told us
that sometimes it wasn't supposed to be as harsh as it was
but just a side effect from stressful days.
I didn't mean any of the big things that happened like the nalinaabs thing.
I did apologize to you after as you know.
and if you recall I told you that me, Pots and Iosa kicked them right after they killed you.
We told them we didn't mind if they spammed because everyone said they didn't mind.
We just told them not to touch anyone who
did not want to be part of the nalinaab abuse.
You were one of those people.
So we would not have been mad at you for kicking them
because we already were prepared to if they did anything like that
and if someone who wasn't there tried to yell at you I know in that case
I would fully take your side. I think also Pots and Iosa would have too.

I will probably be hated for this but I love clearness, and I'm sick and tired of this beating around the bush.
Please note that I'm not going to use any "expletive deleted" words, but I'll try to maintain a civil discussion.
If he/she fails he/she may try to contact me and/or Reiyel, and if we both fail to solve the question is up to the admin(s) then.
My statement is referred also to those guests in here who are not MHM players.
I don't think some of our members act bad on purpose when playing on your server(s), nor I think they're stupid. For what I've understood the problem is they consider you like a buddy, they think you enjoy goofing around and all that stuff, and they also think you can turn a blind eye on some of their "pranks", like Herm has done in the past. They feel even more convinced of that when you give them full admin access (not a wise choice with hindsight), but the day they realize your "zero-tolerance" policy they feel disappointed, confused, upset.
Now if you've banned us all from your Test Server only based on the episode of the "BeefBowl" night, I'm sorry but I personally think it's too much, but if you've considered also the "summon spamming" and all the troubles you have received, I can understand your reasons.
What can I say? We've had that problem you know on the KB server, we've changed our mindset and we've never had the same problem again. Unfortunately we MHM members and you gopostal keep on committing the same mistakes on both sides and we both end with these annoying, boring, same old discussions.
And now someone should bring me a coffee cause my head hurts.
Please note that I'm not going to use any "expletive deleted" words, but I'll try to maintain a civil discussion.
I agree on this point, if one of us has a problem with another one he/she should try to establish a dialogue, instead of directly involving admin(s) for every single issue.gopostal wrote: Look, I've had many, many conversations with you guys away from the group. That means you don't like goofing around, idling and stuff like that. I respect your point of view but I can say as well that I don't like those who just play by killing monsters like bots and don't say a single word during the whole match. It's a matter of points of view, but it creates a distance between you and most of the MHM members.gopostal wrote: [...] honestly I just don't enjoy the playstyle. Re: Temp server
Herm and I have spoken this evening and he has asked me to reconsider. We discussed what he wants in a server and the direction he wants to take. I was very open with him about potential problems with me assuming an admin role and he in turn was very open about what he will expect and require of me. There are issues he wants dealt with and he has outlined some and we will continue to inform me what he wants done.
I can't tell Herm no, I owe him too much, so I will be assuming the admin position effective at his discretion. This is *not* my server or *my* rules, I am simply going to be an extension of Herm, doing what he has clearly detailed to me that he wants done. If you have issues with this, please take them up with him.

Re: Temp server
I'd just like to ask something first. This is very important.
It's clear that you don't like goofing, idling or chatting. You have said that you will be bored playing the Village Map; you have told us that our gamestyle is not accepted in other servers and you even said that it should give us a hint.
So, that means that we won't be able to goof or chat in MHM? That means that if you see us boosting each other on MHM you will ban us or tell us to "play the game"? That means we can say goodbye to the village map since one of our admins don't like it? In fact, you being an admin means that MHM will now change and adopt your rules, or better said, the "correct" game style? (note the irony on "correct").
I want this to be CLEAR, and it's better if we say this explicit. Yes, you said that this won;t be your server or your rules, but still I think this should be very very explicit.
I appreciate you Gopo, I told you several times that I believe you're a great person and I still believe we all owe you for the great times we had back on MHM3. However, if you being an admin means our gamestyle will have to change then I'll have to talk to Herm and ask him to please reconsider, and I'm quite sure most of MHM'ers will agree with me on that. So far you have told us that you don't like our gamestyle, that you saw us as some sort of punk kids and more; that's why I'm quite sure that you will try to change the way MHM is, in other words, that you will not respect our point of view and our likes (specially since you don't believe they are respectable likes or preferences but some sort of disrespect to other players or "a problem with I can do what I want".)
Also I know that you don't like many MHM'ers due to past experiences on MHM3 (the daily complaining PM's you received which I never get to know or read) and the problems on UMH. How could someone be a neutral good admin and having prejudges to some players at the same time?
I miss K too. Back when she was here we never had this kind of trouble. We were happy on our server and no outsider ever came here trying to tell us the "correct" way to play. Also, we never had any trouble with any other community.
When MHM3 was running one day all of a sudden I saw a new root admin. I was disturbed and deleted his account and asked you and POTS for answers. You said that this new root was just helping with Nexgen and that it meant nothing and that nothing were going to change with MHM3. The next week MHM3 became UMH. I want to feel sure that MHM won;t become something different in the future.
Need an answer, I think we all MHM'ers need one

Indeed, and anyone who checks my last post on the desktop thread can see I have a helluva lot of fallback options...
I personally think you being an admin would be OKish until you did something, anything, at which point there would be a huge meltdown with god knows what aftermath.

Re: Temp server
Guys let me be explicitly clear: Herm is outlining exactly what he wants in clear and certain terms. I have no interest in ever running another server, nor do I want to "run" MHM. Herm has asked for some help and I have always said I'll do anything for him. Any changes, rules, decisions, etc will come from him and him alone. Lobbying me over things is pretty much wasted.
Yes my personal playstyle is much more focused than MHM, but that's not the issue here. You guys act like I'm the only dissenting voice but I don't think you fully grasp the entire situation. A quick scan of the chat logs for "Don't" and "quit" and "please stop" bring up something every single day. Goofing is one thing but affecting other players who don't like it is another. A big red flag should have went up when he added antiboost to the server. You know Herm, he doesn't do things lightly. My guess is he got enough complaints he just got tired of it. Thats probably the reason he asked for my help here too.

We play around and chat, we don't kill other players.
If you honestly believe antiboost was added "to stop us interfering with other players".
Then you really didn't research that much.
Then again, who needs research when you can just say it's our fault
Hey, maybe the option to turn off friendly fire was caused by us!
That may sound a little strong but seriously, our playstyle is to reach places and chat, not hunt down other players and kill them as they beg for mercy...

From an outsiders view:
It's amazing you guys are still hammering away at gopostal.
Show some respect...He took the time and effort to help out Hermskii for your benefit.
Sure, gopostal got upset because a few of you were acting childish...I would to.
And I've been to MHM and it is Kindergarten at times...especially when a few of you get together. And I'm all about having fun and doing and saying the wrong things...just look at my track record. But you guys have to realize that gopostal is a very serious/intelligent person that cares about UT and cares about his work. And he greatly wants the best for all of us.
And in my opinion (with all his flaws and attributes) gopostal is a guy we don't want to lose as a friend to this forum.
