Reboot?

Post by MEAT » Thu Jul 27, 2006 12:42 am

3 times today my PC rebooted itself without me doing anything.
And then when it comes back on it freezes up.
Any ideas?

I did.....I have Webroot Spy Sweeper and AVG Anti-Virus.
Weird stuff. Plus my PC or my cable is slow......
It use to take me about 30 sec to start my server.
Now it takes close to 2 min.
I click on icons and they take forever.
I have no idea here.

There not virus scanners as such but do detect what has now become known as viri there trojan and adware scanners, but anyway at the end of the day if they get rid of nasties it doesnt really matter what there called just thought i would let you know incase you need further help, on some of the help forums they get kinda anal about what scanners are and such.
let me know how things go..

Heat

Post by Hermskii » Fri Jul 28, 2006 9:05 pm

It sounds more like a heat issue to me "Mr. Got A Bad Ass Video Card" that I told you would heat up your system. Take the case off and clean your fans.

That reminds me too. My younger nephew is in a clan an his clan leader sent him a ATI 9800 Pro AGP w/ 128mb video card for free. His box is overheating now too or was till he brought it to me and I installed 2 more fans in it for him. Now it only overheats some of the time.

Power?

Post by Hermskii » Sat Jul 29, 2006 9:55 pm

Idon't think that power is the issue. Heat is the issue. If you had more power you would have even more heat. Pull the side of the case off and leave it off until you lock up again. Whn you do lock up, let me know. If you don't then you know it's heat. If you do it could be lack of power but if that were the case, you would have been locking and rebooting the whole time since you got your new video card. Has it been happening the whole time?
