Where the Red Fern Grow (1974 version)

Post by David » Fri Feb 05, 2010 9:27 pm

Well, I remember when I was in school and I read the book and watched the movie of Where the Red Fern Grows. It was a good book and a good movie. It tugs at the heart strings (this was before I replaced by heart with some emptiness).

Anyways, I thought it would be a good idea to have my two daughters (ages 9 and 6) to watch the movie. Why might you ask? It was a good movie....... and yes I wanted to see how my kids would react.

Well, my older daughter's face was flushed red with tears pouring out of her eyes, the younger was silent and watching her older sister and trying not to cry.

I asked how the movie was to them and they just looked at me. I told that it is a good movie, it is also a sad movie. I then explained to them of the red fern and what it meant.

I have good kids with good hearts.

and I am just evil.
Are you going to pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?

That is awesome David. That movie is worse than "Old Yeller" when it comes to proving that someone has a heart in them. That is the movie I always point to if I'm trying to make someone feel it during a movie. Great choice.
