This isnt simply my pc just slowing down i think. Then again im the newb with computers so maybe it is. BTW SB i cant understand a word on the log, but i trust mandrake enough that he probably would.
Another great program for windows 7 pc's is Windows 7 manager Boss works very very well. http://www.yamicsoft.com/windows7manager/
It has so many features and tools to clean your registery to editing anything in your windows and its easy to use buddy.

Hopefully you all are still checking this out!
Mandrake-I have attached the file didnt even look over it, about 3am again and i need to get to bed. Thanks for all the help so far. AND the lags have happened less actually and my ping is only about 600 when it happens. maybe one of those trojans was contributing to the problem, but not the problem itself.
Herm-I always unplug the sucker and go on a hard solid floor so im grounded and dont accidentally fry anything in the system. Any other advice?
Shadow-will do thanks!
KK-I'll check it out sometime tomorrow thanks! Have to look at my different options here. Found out i actually have more money than i thought so i might just buy one.

Thanks again everyone!
Ok Boss this will be an easy first pass to do on the hijackthis log.

your registry is kind of a mess here...probably from the trojans being found and removed.

Rerun hijackthis and do another scan.
This time put a check in each box that indicates (file missing) at the end of the line. This will clean up the log considerably.
Press the fix button after checking those boxes.
Then rescan and post another saved log for me.

it didnt
i went through and did what you said, 25 of them had file missing.
fixed it
scanned it
20 still were there.
did it again:
fixed it
scanned it
20 are still there.
No idea what this means, but i still have 20files that say (file missing) and clicking the fix it button doesnt work.
SO it probably didnt clean it up much.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Ok that means somthing is blocking registry changes. Be sure to disable superantispyware or similar memory resident registry monitor before running hijackthis or Windows 7 Manager that KillaKeller suggested.

Ya'll are all just more smarter thin me! Actually, good work all. Keep it up. Do you have a program on your PC called Spybot Search and Destroy? If so, it has a registry change blocker built into it and it would be your bad guy though it is a great little program to have.

This is starting to sound like it may be time a for a full backup and a total rebuild.

Just keep trying stuff step by step other wise and keep rebooting between changing stuff around.

Boss, your AVG may have stopped working because they changed it all around about 3 years ago. It is now only available as a "suite" of protection products, and there is no more free version to be had, I believe.

I would recommend staying away from Spybot Search and Destroy. It used to be a pretty good program, but that was quite a few years ago. It may still work for some people, but on both my Dell PC's it would lock the whole rig up solid if I tried to use the program's own updater while it was running. (One Dell was Win 98SE and the other is Win XP.) The only work around was to get the new definitions file and then drag and drop it into the program folder. I uninstalled it, then retried it much later when there was a "totally new" version available. It was even worse, nothing but total lockups, so I ditched it.
Also, the "tea timer" anti change feature was a total and complete pain in the *** because it would start squawking each and every time you made even the tiniest little change to anything in your system. I shut that "feature" off long before the lock up problem surfaced.

If you would like to get a good free anti virus, I would recommend trying Avast!
Avast! consistently ranks up near the top of the heap when anti virus programs are being tested. And best of all, it is still free. I have been using this one for at least four years, and it works great.

Two other programs to consider are "Spyware Blaster" which operates by blocking spyware before it can get in, and Ad Aware which is a nice anti root kit and spyware removal program. Both have free versions.

You might also consider A squared Free. This one has been changed recently. I think it has been seriously nerfed, since they want you to buy the pay version. But it has still found 2 or 3 things the others missed, so I keep it on my system.

With sensible surfing, and these 4 free programs, I have been problem free for years.
Spware Blaster is nice, because you just update it once a month and it runs quietly in the background.
Every night when I go to supper I do a scan with one of the other 3 programs. If I go out for the afternoon, I run a "deep scan" on one of them. By the time I get back, it's all done. :)
I'm a man........but I can change........if I have to........I guess

If you need any more help Boss we can do a teamview on your system and see whats up with it, just throw me a PM and I'll give you the details basically a remote assistance connection to your system, I have done this a lot and seems to work wonders for my clients/friends. Peace!

Well I would say he got pulled in so many different directions with the good comments that he either went local with the fix, or it got solved. I guess everyone has their own way of fixing these things, its up to him to decide what to do. Good luck with the lag issue... At least i got it down to a minimal for you Boss.

Na i havent fixed it, but its been alot less frequent, its about once a week or so now, its so less frequent that ive forgotten the problem almost entirely, which is why i forgot about this thread till now. I am currently calling a halt since i have no antivirus still on my system (im so broke  ) im going to take namlesses advice for the time being and go grab avast i believe for the time being but if that doesnt work out then im going to invest in one. So im going to redo all the scans mandrake suggested earlier in the thread and then preform a scan with avast, then ill give it another week or so and report what i find.
Lots of help here! this is going to be added on to the list of threads i come back to visit from time to time to help me out with computer/ut junk. Think this is the third one ive added!
Thanks guys!
Cures you redbox!

Your problem is probably just your video card overheating.

I'm IT and I never heard of it. It is possible for sure but I gave this a good look over and I have no memory of ever hearing of it before. What bugs me is that if you go out to each of these company's websites, they all claim the same thing; that they are the best. I did like that Consumer Reports was one of the groups that gave them any kind of award.

About 4 years ago I had mcAfee, but even it was becoming bloated, using 30% of resources on startup. So I went looking and found ESET. It was the first time I had of it too.

It has been beautiful. I don't even think about viruses anymore. It even will report that my windows OS files are out of date before I get the MS notification! Pretty funny. So here's one voucher for it.

Being in IT as well, I havent heard of it either. I use the diffferent flavor of McAfee... te Corporate Enterprise version and its not so bloated as the consumer one. Im always open minded so Ill be checking that out.. Thanks for bringing it up

Indeed! I have sent the link to my Boss already. We use a variety of Norton here. My Boss and I both agree that if it were left up to us, we'd use Trend Micro as we have in the past but it is not up to us.

Thanks again for sharing this insight with us Helen.
