Have you been surprised on UT
What I mean by the topic was, have you been startled, surprised when playing UT?
Years ago when I played UT but was camp sniping (Sniper game where you camp instead of the run and gun method), this took place with me several times. I am trying to lay low, move where you try to remain un-noticed, trying to keep your open to shoot another live being, you slowly turn the corner find a spot, you crouch, scan the horizon, scan to left or you, scan the center of you and WHAM, there is Joe blow next to you and he nor you realized it until both are looking at each other eye to eye.
In Monster Hunt I do not see that very often. In deemer you do, but the felling in the sniping game is different since you do not see the bullet coming at you and you can hear them and then seeing things getting shot around you. A totally different vibe.
But in deemer you do have a different variation of this feeling since you are hunting and being hunted by other live people. It can be fun to guess what they would do, such as jump to their left or right, run away or run at you....
I used to the do the sniping game for years before Monster Hunt. I just got tired of the "competitive nature" of the game. I wanted to relax and enjoy being other people who just wanted to enjoy the game as well. But I guess in a little way, that "feeling" is missed a little. Not that much, but still a little.
Enjoy.

Too often this happens with me and my reflexes are slower now so I lose the battle often. I love walking or running up on a player that is guiding right then so they don't know I'm there until they hit something or just blow up their deemer. Then the next thing they see as they orient their deemer aim is my face in theirs. LOL! When that happens, about 97% of the time they shoot me and kill themselves. Good times!

Well....... I was talking about sniping games in this post, I decided to go and visit a sniper server (to visit not stay). No one was on the servers I normally play on so I gave it a shot.
I did not do too badly. Mostly, I think I got lucky. Found the right spot and kept an eye open.
After this, later in the day, I went to CMM and SB and Pan was playing. I got cremated by SB. I got killed so badly my mouse wheel broke. (I use my mouse wheel to change weapons). So I had to go on eBay and order another mouse. Maybe the way I got spanked, I should have ordered a couple more. Thanks fro bringing down to earth SB

Well maybe I should have been drinking coffee this morning instead of tea. I jumped onto the Chaos UT2k4 server and decided the nutty mayhem of KillyBillyBarn was just the cuppa hot joe I needed to start my day.David wrote:What I mean by the topic was, have you been startled, surprised when playing UT?
I like to hang around on the top of the silo and camp the gravity vortex generator, because it seems the bots never learned how to climb the ladder. They will shoot me off of there of course, so lots of health and armour is required. After they did that, I was dashing around the barn picking up health when I saw what at first appeared to be a giant hay bale in the sky moving from one edge of the map to another right over the top of the barn. By the time I got to the top of the silo again I could see it was a doughnut shape. Mmm doughnuts and coffee for breakfast. How appropriate for a Canadian.

But the question on my mind is, was that a glitch in the map? Some secret thingy you can get on somehow to rain death down upon those below? Or do I just need to change brands of my meds? Or take them earlier in the morning?
Ohhh........ I know! You have to go and listen to the radio in the barn! LOL. Wow, far out man! Too weird!

Interesting. I'll have to read the readme on that map if I can find one. I want to hear the radio too. Sounds like I may have to get into the barn tonight. Are you using the grapple to get up there? Did you notice I turned off the sticky trans?

Yes I did notice, and to be honest I don't miss the sticky trans much. If it can be fixed that's great, otherwise never mind.
Are you saying you got the grapple working? Hmmm I'll have to figure out which keys I can spare to bind to it, if that's the case.
You might want to use the "killpawns" command to get rid of the bots so that you can listen to the radio undisturbed. It's on the ground floor in one of the corners of the barn.

That I know of the grapple has worked the whole time. I have not bound the key myself but it should work perfectly. Let's post some of this in the right forum and see if Hammer jumps in and sets us straight on how to best set it up and use it.
