Hey HOOK, I heard you made enough supplemental income just last month to purchase a new laptop or PC. Get to it already. Yeah, I'm way impressed with the speed of IE now that it can use HTML5. I'm about to install it on my work PC too which is much faster than my home PC. I can't wait to see what happens then!

I was going to look into it after reading what Herm stated about it but,... I discovered something.
cnet download.com wrote:The bottom line: Internet Explorer 9 is surprisingly competitive across the board. Zippy browsing speeds, minimalist layout, and innovative features make this not only the best version of IE to date, but will catapult Internet Explorer back into the browser wars. The one big drawback? You must have Windows 7 or Vista to use it. XP users are stuck on IE8. Forever
So I am stuck with IE8

That is true I think Nameless. Firefox uses HTML5 and is XP friendly. To see the speeds I'm talking about, XP users may have to use FireFox indeed. I had not thought of that.

FireFox >>> IE
Chrome >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ALL

IE9 may be better than the last IE versions, but the other browsers are light-years ahead from it. For instance there isn't a faster JScript interpreter than the one Chrome provides (when I mean faster, I mean really reaaally fast, it places FF and IE in a corner easilly).

Plus, CSS3 support already exists in all the other browsers for bloody ages, and MS just implemented it now in IE9? LOL (in IE8 and IE7 their excuse was that they somewhat couldn't LOL, funny how well paid programmers lack skills to do something which others could pull out without being paid at all).

That's all good but consider this, IE has to work across everything it touches and historically has done it. The others at some point or another have some feature that won't work right on certain websites. I've found that IE works on everything it touches but historically hasn't been able to do it as fast or with as much security or privacy. Now, the game is on! IE9 goes as fast as the others with even more privacy options built in and will work everywhere on everything I suspect. I haven't had issues in the 2 days or so I've been using it.

I see Firefox have major issues with Remote Desktop features all of the time and I remote into everything all of the time. I will admit, I HAVE NOT used chrome yet at all.

Sorry, but if we go that way then you're extemelly wrong. IE NEVER had CSS3 support up until now. It seems that IE9 has from what I have read, but anything below never had it.

So what's the big deal of CSS3? (you may ask) Well, it's simply something that IE should have a long time ago: support for rounded corners, shadows, etc, etc, etc, everything that saves the web designer to use ugly js based hacks to make something look good.

There's "all browsers and IE" in a very bad way. Want a javascript application? Well, make it for FireFox and it will work with everything (Chrome, Safari and whatnot), but it won't work with IE, you have to add hacks and more ugly hacks to get around IE "limitations".

Want to make rounded corners so your website looks great without having to use images and lots of divs? You can do it with CSS3 (which existed way before IE7 came out) and it will work with FireFox, Chrome, yada, yada... but not with IE, for that you have to use parsing intensive javascript hacks to "try" to make something like that.

I also liked to use IE once, but since I started to see how it really worked, just forget it. IE9 brings CSS3 support this time? Great, but they come already very very late, since we webdevelopers have still to make our website CPU intensive and ugly exclusivelly for earlier versions of IE which could have that feature from the start (I am a php semi-pro developer by now btw).

So historically, IE is a failed browser, is a fact and you can ask this to any webdesigner who has to work with different browsers everyday, they couldn't keep up with the rest of the browsers at all. Everything IE9 is doing now is trying to implement the features the rest of the browsers have for a long time.

But well, if you're happy with it, cool, but I warn you that IE is still very behind any browser nowadays (FireFox and Chrome will also release new versions, FireFox seems to be faster than ever).

It's like if we have to help IE cross the road like an old granny, while FireFox would be already on the other side of the road waiting.

MMm, to chicken for IE9 ? Nice question.
What I'm thinking about ? A web Page without all kind of strange stuffs will work fine anyway. I'm not intended to try other browsers.

Why ?

Because I know some surveillance quipments with acces via Internet and they are not so friendly with other browsers than IE. Is already described in those documentations. A person with some bussines opened which wants to take a look in his yard, will use web accest for his cams placed in interested points. IE 8 in our case is working enough stable, there are some plugins added for Mozzila but are not so friendly to set them up. Sometimes you cannot teach a butcher which all his life worked with meat to learn about how to set a web acces with a browser X. The most things are working fine in default. Making a WebPage only for a type of browsing will result finally in a reduced number of visitors, this is not usefull at all.
Not a sigle time a new browser was released with security exploits. Why should I need other troubles ? Because of a single http to be visited ? Well I not interested at all by a so called cool view of a WebPage.
But never mind anyway, each of us will decide what kind of browser will use according to his/her needs.

I upgraded my wife's laptop to IE9 yesterday, but had to uninstall it today. IE9 would not allow her to post on Facebook from her games...????

Anyway, my wife is used to IE8 and she is like me, we resist change.
