Player ethics, and The Name of the Game

Post by a nameless entity » Wed Aug 10, 2005 3:37 pm

The name of the game is Monster Hunt. NOT "A race to the end with monsters in it". It is Monster Hunt.

We are not here to see who can race to the end of the map first.
We are not here to hog all of the health and powerups for ourselves.

We are here to play as a team.

This means that it's ok to top up your health when there's no one else nearby, but if you see another player rushing to that health pack or shield belt, and he is beat up, or at least has less health than you, let him have the use of it. Share the wealth. If 3 of you are running down a corridor, and there are 3 health packs, take ONE each. It's only polite, after all.
Take care of your team mates. Look out for each other. Please. :o

No one likes a smart ass who plays like he's the only one in the map, or considers the other players to be his competitors, rather than his team mates.

Be polite. And when you finally have fought your way to the end of the map, after killing all -or at least all that you can find- of the monsters, WAIT at the end point for your team mates to catch up to you. All of them. If 5 out of the 6 of you are standing at the end point, and there's only one spawn point in the whole map, and player #6 just got killed and has a long hike back to the end, ASK him if he minds that you would end the map. Please. :?
There's nothing more frustrating than to never have seen what the last rooms of a map look like, because one dimbulb couldn't wait to end the map.

Let's all remember to be nice. Ok? 8)

you pointed out some things i really dislike on servers

when i am low in health and see 4 med pack forward , a noob take all of them at my front and he was at 400 health

i prefer play with 3 of 4 people and have better feeling of a team , instead of having 12 people around me shooting everywhere and take all the pickups for them .

at least , its my opinion
arrgh ! lost my head !

I agree. I'm a little guilty of some of what you mentioned but overall, I'm pretty good about team play. I'll try even harder to be a good sport in the future too.

True. I always try to team play as much as I can. It's the main reason for me playing this.

The fewer players the better. The team play is often lost when there are too many players at once.

When I'm playing with a bunch of quick enders, I just temporary remove the end point and add it again, when we all agree to end.

If they will learn from it, I dunno... probably not. :?

I fourth that motion. All the way
4-6 players is ideal for me. With 4 people you can actualy use team work.
It realy sux when there is 10 people in MH-winter and nobody will get out of the sewer bottom to let the gates open.
Yet scream all you want . Most of them are not listening. they are shooting at closed gates for ten minnutes and not killing a single monster. :?

I too try to leave power ups if there is some one enroute for it. Seriously there is usualy five of everything. Take one leave one people! GG!

:D hehe :D

That's why I like UT99 better than UT2K3... Monster Hunt, and ethical team players. I like 4 friends on a server, friends who don't go way ahead of you... ones who wait until you can also jump on an elevator. A kind word once in a while is cool too... we are people, we should respect others, and have fun.

*cat passes a box of donuts around*

Grim Reaper embodied the true spirit of teamwork in "Canyon" the other night.

Bravo, Grim, bravo.

I don't play Monster Hunt but it's the competitiveness we have as indivduals, to want to win, that makes team play difficult.
As well the ignorance of some people not understanding the concept of teamwork.
Plus, the more people you have in a game the more leaders, followers and vigilantes you'll have.
