Interesting read here:

Yay! I have Comcast though I'm about to go to AT&T's "Uverse" instead.

I read the article this morning, and yes my ISP is cheating me but it is better than the competition that I have in my area. :| .
I tried the FCC site for the speed test, and it freezes on the jitter portion. It gets to 94% completed and stays there...
Are you going to pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?

My ISP isn't cheating on me.

We're seeing other people.

I used the Mytest site, and got 4.8 out of a maximum of 7 Mbps download speed. That sounds about normal for what I get. Upload I got 769 Kbps out of a max of 800 Kbps possible. That's about right too. Sometimes I get more or even way more upload, but almost never or never get my full download speed.

My big issue is really one of lag spikes when I'm playing online games. That is what gets to me.

I wish some fibre optic outfit would locate up here. I'd give them a try. The only good thing about my cable ISP is that they're Cogeco in this area, and Cogeco has a better reputation that the larger Rogers. Rogers is just terrible, and everyone hates them. :?
The big DSL provider is Bell Telephone, and they are just as awful as Rogers. For example if Bell messes up your payments and gives all the money to one department instead of portioning it off to the telephone, internet, and satellite TV departments as they should, then they start dunning you for money you have already given them. And it can take months of trying to talk to them to get the letters and calls to stop.

So I'm kind of stuck. Rogers doesn't serve this area (and I don't want them anyway), Bell is just as bad as Rogers, which leaves me with Cogeco, who are ok, but charge too much for what you get the same as the others.
I'm a man........but I can change........if I have to........I guess

Mine is treating me just right and they better cause I am working for them lol and I monitor it all lol. I have the DOCSIS 3.0 modem so I always get the 50 down and about 9-10 upload. I also portforward all ports for my games including UT/ps3/xbox.
