I have a new pc, and want to import the data of my old sata hard drive ... and drive is dead as an.......? Computer can not recognize it any way, even not in BIOS and device manager
I really hope that I have backups of DD2 and those specials maps for Hermskii and Hook...... ...
Even my files for my secret project are on it..... ..
I must start all over if I don't have any .... oh god. Though I learned my lesson in the past, but seems not...

Re: Did you know thread
I can't give you specific details as to how it was done but my old computer was much the same way. Totally kaput. When my friend built me my new computer he took my old harddrive, unaltered, and put it in here as an extra drive.Terraniux wrote:I have a new pc, and want to import the data of my old sata hard drive ... and drive is dead as an.......? Just a thought.

Slave it and see if it gets detected. Sorry if you already tried that. Don't try to boot from it. Just try to get to the files.

Re: Did you know thread
It is an Seagate SATA2 500gb 16mb cache, no need to slave it. Sata 2 is hot swappable.Hermskii wrote:Slave it and see if it gets detected. Sorry if you already tried that. Don't try to boot from it. Just try to get to the files.
When I attach the hard drive to an running computer ( no matter what pc, tried 4-5 computers) it does spin up, and crashes the entire system (bsod).
Even with docking stations and external usb enclosures ,,, the computer hangs or gives the same big fat bluescreen.
If I want to get the files back I need to bring it to an forensic lab I think. Perhaps the disk was overheated and writed corrupted files to the filesystem.... I am doomed!
