ok, so i wanna try an aimbot...and im serious when i say for educational purposes.
i have elfbot and a few others in a zip file. i wanna try em in a sniper server.
the question i have is....
once ive seen what an aimbot does and how it works and how to identify one....how do i go about removing it? i read a forum a while back saying that this guy tried it, thought he got rid of elfbot, then had his ip banned because one of the checkers picked it up. apparently he was a part of a clan too in a tournament so they all got roasted for it.
is there a definitive way to TOTALLY remove the elfbot once ive had a play?

Yes the easiest way to get a bad rep is install an aim bot.

Theres only 2 ways i can think of..

1a) install a second version of ut specially for the aimbot use and once done delete the install..

1b) install on a second computer and then delete once used..

2) do not install at all if someone is using an aimbot there pretty unbeatable getting head shots one after the other and if your talking about in redeemer play then everyone has "an aimbot " so to speak its built into the redeemer the red tracking crosshair you see when guiding....

If you do go ahead and install it expect to get burned in the ut community..

well i did go ahead,
and i dont expect to be burned at all. the room i went into, i told them i was entering with an aimbot (elfbot to be precise) and the two dudes in there were really interested in the results..

i was impressed with the absolute accuracy of the bot...it seems to work better with one or two ppl in a larger map, whereas i played ut single player and it was spazzing out because there were too many targets.

The one i used had:
Auto aim
Auto shoot
had the names in bright colors above the players heads. seeable hrough all walls
a lil screen that shows behind you.
headshot/body shot toggle options...(thats one reason they are harder to detect)
it had a smooth sight. where the actions were suppose to simulate a REAL mouse movement used by a human, but i dunno what was happening cuz it was going psycho.

Results:

i walked into the room and anhillated absolutly everyone! WOO HOO!!!
without even trying. kinda funny the first hundred times in the first minute.
it was funny to see one the release notes for elfbot, the author says at the end:
1. unzip bot
2: move .u filess........
3. install aimbot.....
4. play for a minute and lose all interest in ut99

aimbots obviously appeal to ppl who want a quick fix and cant win by themselves. i recorded a match using the aimbot, and detection is quite simple...you suspect an aimbot...check for the guy having an epileptic fit.

where as this was a fun exercise and steep lerning curb in the way aimbots work. and i think ill be better prepared to "notice" an aimbot next time i run into one.
i found myself bored within a minute of playing

if anyone is interested in trying an aimbot, thats your decision, I would just like to STRESS to you the importance of backing up your USER.ini and UTMENU.U files before doing anything. and for the love of all things golden, DO NOT keep using it... WHY? i hear you ask?....well sunny.....its lame, and ppl who cheat are smelly, and are often oscociated with homeless ppl and syphilis carriers. so...try it and then piss it off...GOT IT?! you do this because when you relise how lame aimbots are youl wanna go back to being normal because there is a REAL risk of being caught and banned from servers.
anywho,
at the end of the day, the elfbot was not worth the hassle of even downloading and installing. and it wouldnt be to anyone who is legitimately wanting to try it for education purposes. so if thats you??? dont bother hey, its shite. but you know what sort of person you are so you decide...your a big boy now.

Another way to detect aim bots is when you get fragged by them even when you are hidden from them and or they always seem to know exactly where you are! (that happened to me in the Perdition server BY the Admin himself!!!)
Yes he's a real piece of work - Very Arrogant guy!
That explains it where you can "see" players through walls!

CG and MHM don't use any cheat protection. The level of people there won't stoop to such low levels not to mention aim bots don't help you a bit with the Redeemer Mod. I've seen many come in and still lose badly then leave usually with a negative frag count as well.

I wish there was a sure fire way to prevent cheats but really, there just isn't. There isn't a way in any game when you think about it.

If you do ever test one yourself on someones server, ask them (the admin) first. Often they will let you just to test security. Good write up BumMonkey.

i prob coulda made it more thourogh but after writing a short novel in my other post i was too tired to write it properly.

HERMSKII....
The name icons (which are really bright colors...cant miss em) that appear above EVERYONES heads can be seen behind all walls..there fore its easy as pie to look around...see the icon....and guide a deemer straight to the person. also, after the guided missile had left the deemer the icons dissaper and your left with your regular xhairs on the missile.
An elfbot is EXTREMELY usefull in a deemer mod.
it takes spraying to a new level of knowing exactly where to spray and when to do it. The only defense that i could see on using aimbots on deemer servers is that the auto-aim and auto-fire functions did not work. which would be a good thing for the auto-aim not to work because a deemer going off by itself would be catistrophic to anyone near the guy exploding himself.
I just hope the players have more respect for themselves and others than to use em.
I want to reinstall elfbot when meat gets back so as i can test it against him and i personally think the results will be surprising to all. And i think this would be a definitive test of elfbot in a redeemer environment.

Hook, definately you were gettin tuned up on that server because he had this icon function or the radar that appears in the lower left hand corner that shows your position in relation to his own. an "aviation style radar"
With these two functions set on elfbot, there is NO hiding no matter where you are. or how good you are, the piece of "Expletive Deleted" will find you in seconds and have a deemer on its way.
Dont be fooled that an aimbot is ineffective in deemer servers.
Now...
detection is another thing altogether on say MRS.
As hermskii put it there is no protection...(which there DEFINATELY should be) i believe the version i had isnt recognised by any CSHP servers. I was tring to find the makers notes but i cant find em anywhere.
And because there is no auto aim and no auto shoot, there is no "twitching" of the cheater.
The only way i can see is to record the player and check how well he moves from one kill to the next. I imagine he would kill...take a few seconds to scan then kill directly again..but is it enought to call him a cheater?

Its definately a HUUUUUGE security threat and i would not be in the least surprised if there were a few among us. Ive noticed a few ppl who sucked so bad one week, next thing they are up with the top players the next. they went from poor players to advanced overnight and consistantly there after.

i....just.....dont....know.

but yeah sure, go ahead and link away if you like.

I have always wanted to find out how those aimbots work so I can better detect them!
Hermskii's right! Many "protected" servers have cheaters still on them.
They just keep hacking them.
Also, the protection software may not be updated for much longer so we must stay On Our Toes and watch out for the cheaters!
We may not be able to rely on anti-cheat software much longer as this game is getting pretty old and will no doubt have less & less support.

I am surprised that the anti-cheat software coders are still updating it for UT99 at all any more!

The people in those Deck 16-only classic UT servers use those aimbots a lot....easy to tell when they're usin em, because all they gotta do is point/shoot....they dont even need the scope lol.

my point was with a deemer an aimbot is virtually undetectable even in spectator mode.
Because there is no auto shoot function on the deemer when using elfbot the easiest way to cheat is use the HUUUUUGE icons above EVERYONES head(even through all the walls) to locate and frag.

AND...just of late ive noticed a few players who can guide to you almost instantly even when it would be near impossible to do without an aimbot loaded.

Good news is...be patient, the WILL get sick of winning all the time and the will MOVE on

MEAT...again, maybe its time for spectator mode to be turned on so that ppl who know what to look for can maybe get an idea of who is and who isnt playing fair?everyone will prob get "cheat"screamed at them everytime they win. but maybe its worth it....dunno what does everyone think?

So far ive done a lil bit of my own testing by finding REALLY obscure spots and just seeing who can find em and how efficient they are at doin it.
Its definately not a concrete way of saying " hey! your cheating!!" (and i never have accused anyone) but ive got my doubts.
And having tried this elfbot on MRS and other "LESSER" known servers (LMFAO!) ppl still are simply not THAT efficient. no, not EVEN MEAT!

if you use the acs controller you can screen shot the other person while they are playing and it shows what they see on there screen they caught some guy at the esg cup with a radar using it just a thought

For those who gripe about people that 'spawn-kill', etc...you must admit, that people that use a cheat prog. are much more worse/gutless....What kind of fun could you have, without using your friggin brain ? True, spawn-killing doesn't require much brains either, but in some maps it makes sense...especially if you consider the fact that a redeemer blast covers something like a 50 ft. radius....no fun to just stand out in the open and die pointlessly.

I was talking about aimbot cheats not being effective. The radar cheats can be used well. Lucky for me, many of my maps are too small for even a radar cheat to work well. MEAT has a whole different problem on his hands. I have run anti software before on my server and was well versed in it's usage. I know I can run it and catch people now who are using it but it would truly break my heart to find a regular using it.

I am telling you now to please try your cheats on my servers. Please email me first and tell me when you want to do it. I'd like to play against a few of the newer cheats to help me determine if I have to add protection. I have always counted on cheating being too boring to do for long and hope the players just move on which most have. Maybe I'll go ahead and put a silent yet modern cheat protection back on the servers just to see for myself who is cheating but like I said, I'd rather keep my head in the sand about it for right now. Later!
