Here's my problamo.
I have a Dell Inspiron laptop, the specs are:
-Mobile AMD Sempron Processor 3500+ 1.80 GHz.
-1500mb DDR2 RAM.
-ATI Radeon Xpress 1150, 256mb HyperTransfer memory.
-and Windows Vista Basic OS.
My problem is: anytime I try to run UT without my power plugged in and with battery engaged, UT either speeds up, or slows down. Not the framerate, but the actual speed that my player moves. I've set my power schemes up so that when I play UT, I switch it over to high performance, meaning I allow my computer to work as hard as it needs to. Even with high performance engaged while the computer is on battery, UT still works incorrectly.
Keep in mind Vista is a lot like XP, and any answers or recommendations will be appreciated. 8)
_________
And every once in a while, when I start UT with TurboCheck or even regularly, everything works fine except my sound. The explosions of guns and voice sayings are, (not sure how to explain it), but are, broken apart.. I mean they sound very choppy. Anyway to fix this?
_________
And one more thing, I run my UT with Direct3DSupport rendering. But all of a sudden, Direct3D started doing weird, out of the ordinary things. Like, when I start UT from TurboCheck, I see a black screen with the normal "Precaching" in blue. Then the UT, er, not sure what to call it, but the start up video starts to play, I can hear the words and the sound effects, but can't see anything. the screen is blank. then, when I push escape, I see the UT home screen, but it is very very dark, I can't see the metal around the "Unreal Tournament" words in the middle. I can just barely make out the menus, for they seem to be in some sort of high-contrast view of black and blue. Because of this, UT is unplayable, meaning I have to render it in OpenGL Support. Where my framerate and overall performance degrades a lot because of things like coronas, fog, and water. Whereas in Direct3D, most of these feature are disabled to improve performance. I'm not sure how to insert a screenshot of the UT home screen, but if anyone would like to see what it looks like, just email me and I'll be happy to send you a screenshot that way.
_________
Obviously I have quite a few problems here, but hopefully I explained them thoroughly enough to make it easy for you to diagnose and repair them. Thank you very, very, very much for any replies.

All you need to do is update your OGL if that still gives low frame rates then disable the same things in OGL as are disabled in D3D ...And one more thing, I run my UT with Direct3DSupport rendering. Re: Here's my problamo.
I used to have similar problem. I would listen to winamp while playing UT. If i push play on winamp then boot UT it would make explosions sound broken / choppy. If i push play after UT booted it would work fine.matrix wrote: -Mobile AMD Sempron Processor 3500+ 1.80 GHz.

Are you running anything in the background when UT is running?
Also 150mb is pretty small.

OHH thats easy GO HERE you will find it all in an easy to read manual but just in case i will post the relative section here....matrix wrote:no kortniechan, I'm running 1500mb, 1.5gb and I have nothing running in the bqackground. And dm can you tell me how to update my OpenGL driver? and shadow, how do I check for amd's cool and quiet?
How to use the OpenGL Renderer:
(Print these instructions if you can)
OpenGL is a rendering method your video card may be able to use to give you slightly better graphics in the game. Most semi modern cards can or do have this ability. It may be to your advantage to try the UT in this mode. If you want to give it a shot, just follow the directions below.
1. Go to your C:\Play_UT\UnrealTournament\System folder.
2. Rename the file called OpenGLDrv.dll to OpenGLDrvOriginal.dll
3. Go to this link and download this zip file to your computer:
http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/utglr28.zip
4. Unzip the file and copy the OpenGLDrv.dll to your C:\UnrealTournament\System folder.
5. Start the game and from the UT Desktop select options.
6. Select Preferences.
7. On the Video tab, select the Video Driver "Change" button.
8. A “Change Video Driver” option window will open. Select “Yes”.
9. The “Unreal Tournament Video Configuration” window will open.
10. Click the radius for “Show all devices”.
11. Highlight “OpenGL Support”.
12. Select “Next”.
13. Select “Next” again.
14. Select “Run”.
Done!

Yeah
Yeah, DM, I thought that instruction set looked familiar. Matrix, Stop. Just stop! You will be here in less than a week and I will fix all this stuff for you. I shudder to think of you trying this stuff by yourself with you only being a 8 year old little girl.
~Peace~
