Time to rethink [DRc].

Post by matrix » Thu Aug 23, 2007 4:02 am

Yes, it's time to REthink the [DRc]. I had a nice, loooong, friendly talk with EL_LArrY. He answered many questions for me, and it turns out, he really isn't all that bad. He told me that the tag [DRc] means Dominican Republic Clan. Which is also why the "c" is lowercase.. it isn't a proper noun. Larry told me that the Clan included a total of eight members: [DRc]Rc_Soft(the leader), [DRc]LeBron, [DRc]Ginox, [DRc]Lacontienda, [DRc]EL_LArrY, [DRc]XhackZ, [DRc]Subzero, and [DRc]Rootsoft, who are all over the age of 16. This clan has four servers to themselves, none to be MH, all DM. They host many 1vs1/3vs3 deathmatches within thier clan. Larry also invited me to a tournament of theirs' tomorrow. He tells me they DO use a teamspeak server, so they are always talking. They gave me the IP so I could join, and I'm pretty sure they have a website, though I did not get that out of them. Larry also spent about twenty minutes of his playtime teaching a player named Jonias how to lift-jump.
The leader of the clan is decided based on the champion of their matches. Most of the [DRc] speak Spanish, though I am sure Larry, Rc_Soft, and Rooty know alot of English, as for the others, don't ask me. Larry tells me to tell "my people".. (you guys) that the [DRc] aren't bad people. They are just very competitive players who are only trying to have fun. They take all the boots because that is a strategy to keep others behind, they shoot people down because that keeps them in the lead. They basically are a group of people who come to our server because they like it the most,(says Larry) to have fun shooting each other and other players down. He even sort of scedules lessons for new people as well. They don't mind if you hit them back, because that is the game they play. I told them that they can shoot down and mess with anyone willing to play their game. I told them that when a player/admin says to settle down, to do so. I told them absolutely NO BT brick blocking, and no taking all the boots, etc etc. I am NOT saying this is the end of the [DRc] problems, there is no stopping them, unless we can help them to make a server of their own.. so they can enjoy it themselves. But I'd rather not. Because, it's about time we accepted the fact that the author of Hebereke put those deemers up there for a specific reason. To knock people down. Hebereke is only popular, and people only hang out up top without finishing because there are deemers there to make the map more interesting. And besides, I don't believe I have ever seen a [DRc] causeing trouble anywhere else but Hebereke.

Your inevitable comments will be appreciated. :P 8)

Sounds like the [DRc] should visit our Redeemer servers?
Pass on the word for us.

The DRC's strategy is fine with me. Hebereke does have Deemers in it for that reason.

However ,
Please make it clear to them that there are other players on the server.
The server mapvote is set up to not let you vote for the last five maps played.
IT IS NOT OK TO REPETITIVLY VOTE RIGHT WHEN THE MAP LOADS - SO Hebereke COMES ON AGAIN.

I witnessed the DRc doing this over and over again. It was VERY annoying other people who wanted to hunt.

A race up Hebereke is fine once in a while.
Other Players are there to play Monster Hunt.
It is not fair to them to pull that immediate voting crap again.
:?

Indianna Jones , Path of god.

Thank you Matrix for opening up some communication on this topic. The DRc is more then welcome on the server as long as they are respectfull of other players.

@matrix: please break your paragraphs a little more, you hurt my poor eyes. lol

Ah, maybe they would enjoy the redeemer servers.
Yes I did make that there are other people on the server who want to play MH to kill mosters. And people who hate BT, meaning they're not very good at Hebereke. It's these people that get very excited, when after struggling forever, finally make it about half way up, but then get hit with a deemer and leave.
I've made it clear that their should be no BT brick blocking, no taking all the boots, and no messing with players that have had enough. I told him that when a player says to let them pass without being hit, not to hit them.
Some players enjoy playing Hebereke and knocking each other off, but then again, there are those people who don't want to be hit during the game.

And I have a feeling that the other Hebereke maps, which Herm will put up soon, won't be so easy to hunker down up top and shoot people. Let me give you a screenshot.

No places that you will be able to avoid missile fire. The red room you see is the map finish.. easy to be blow in there. The green room is a veeerrryyy long hole that go straight down the the bottom.. easy to be blown in there also.

In Hebereke force, I believe there are no deemers, and besides you start out in a room with a bunch of doors and portals. And in Hebereke3, there are nothing but jets, that shoot nothing but harmless rockets. So, when the three other Hebereke maps are added (Hebereke2, Hebereke3, and HeberekeForce, our original Hebereke will be a fun map to knock people down, since the other Heberekes make it harder to stay up top for long.

And yes, now I do remember that they have caused trouble in other maps, Kchan. Unfortunately, the only way to get intouch with them is to load a Hebereke map for more than 20 minutes.

Actually i always thought the redeemers were at the top so you could do the bt stuff then use them to fly back along the map and kill what you didn't get on the way up i don't see the point in putting them in a TEAM game to kill/stop the rest of the TEAM. Same with maps 2-4 the jets are there to get to parts of the map that cant be reached any other way not to wait till a TEAM member gets in one to shoot them down but that's the problem very few players will play as a TEAM....

I honestly don't like them.. Ppl that only care about they're fun without thinking of other ppl...

I like to be ahead of others, but without messing with 'em ( taking boots making ppl fall etc... )

Hebereke
Haunted+

Haven't played 1 match with them without having them anoying ppl on those 2 maps.. on Hebereke I know that almost everyone likes to play with deemers..shooting each other down with it.. but on Haunted?...that gun.. Once the match started.. some guy from that clan got to the BT part 1st.. i was behind him..when he got to the gun..he jumped twice on purpuse just to get the gun twice so it takes like 2-3mins to spawn again... after i waited that time there was already 3 players waiting for that gun too..so 2 of them had to wait even more.
The same happened with a new player on MHM.. he usually get's to 1st place.. but dies easily..wears a skaarj skin and his name is strange..i'll post it when I see him again.

Well Cyborg, if someone is going to work to get to the gun on Haunted first, there isn't really anything wrong with grabbing the second gun. I do it everytime.

And you have a good point DM, but if the deemers are at the very top, and you have to go through the whole map to get them, why would want to kill anything thats not bothering you. To find out for sure, lets contact the guy who writes the Hebereke maps.

And isn't there a mutator in the game that gets rid of all superweapons for that map? We could have an admin turn that mutator on during a Hebereke map, and then see how popular it becomes.

I'm starting to find it quite fun to shoot down other deemers and use strategy to make it to the top, and for the few that can make it past tons of flying deemers, your prize is to get up top and shoot others. It really improves skill and makes the map a lot more difficult and challenging.

And come on, it's ONE map out of 78. Is it so terrible that on one map out of our available seventy-eight, we have some fun?
And besides the Hebereke maps don't take nearly any teamwork. So if you really want to be proud of yourself for getting to the top all by yourself, then why not just download the maps and play solo?

Since all of you have such wonderful points, this is what I am going to do. I am going to talk to the author of the Hebereke series and get him to write me a map.
Suuuuper tall compared to the others with tooooonnnsss of obstacles and challenges that require hardcore practice and sheer skill. I will tell him to make it really easy, but tons more challenges. That way, the only way you'd fall is if you weren't paying attention or got in a rush, because we all know the easier it is, the easier it is to make a mistake.
I will make sure there are absolutely NO superweapons, no extra hidden parts of the map, no mosters, no nothing but loads of BT.
I want this map to be nothing but BT from the ground up all the way to the top where the map can be ended by touching a simple button.

How does this sound? Oh, and I will get him to put a statue of me right in the middle for all to see and know that this masterpiece was my brilliant idea. 8P

Funny...

Funny Matrix that in 2 short weeks you have come full circle from hating peeps who shoot down other players to being one of them or at least supporting it.

My official stance is as follows. You don't shoot other players while they are on obstacles ever.

I used to have the rules pop up when you connected to play. I wonder what ever happened to the original pop up. It had 5 listed rules. Now I have some other pop up that I need to edit soon. Later!
~Peace~

As well the ignorance of some people not understanding the concept of teamwork.
Plus, the more people you have in a game the more leaders, followers and vigilantes you'll have.
Being an outsider and not really knowing MH here is my 2 cents on the subject. (not with a penny though)
It is one of two things. The people in question could be unfamiliar with MH and its concept of team play and team goals?.
Or, they are just trouble makers with there own agenda?

My first time to MH was somewhat confusing. I wanted to kill everything...lol
But being of this forum/web site I knew better and knew what was expected.

Well it is pretty lame on my opinion. Some noobs fall there all the time xD..it's like a miracle when they get there and then the gun's missing.

That would be pretty awesome idd. I really like hebereke but deemer sometimes spoils the fun.
I dunno how to make MH maps >:

Btw *off topic*.. who made andromeda beta?..I love the map! Just love it.. never get tired of doing it single player.. BT, unlocking guns, "treasure hunt".. although I hate it sometimes on MHM cause I usually get 230+ ping and I'm ALWAYS the only 1 to unlock health armor and amp.

You're right herm. But still, it's one map out of seventy-eight with deemers at the top for a specific reason. Again, can we get an admin to turn off deemers during Hebereke, or is there a way to assign it to happen automaticly?
Falling and dying, Cyborg, is what makes you better. People who would rather just compain and give or not try on a bT map need to just sit down and practice, if ANYBODY needs help with any sort of bT map like Hebereke or would just like someone to practice with, just let me know. I'll be happy to help.
bT is like my favorite part of MH, so seeing someone just give up and not accept help bothers me.

So maybe we should try the turn off deemers mod. But like everything possible to do with the server, there are going to be two sides of judgement. I think we should just leave it the way it is. Warn and punish rule breakers and enjoy the game we play.
______________

Again, who needs help with bT or wants someone to practice or play with lemme know.

And by the way, my sooperdooper idea for a new Hebereke, was actually.. sortakinda.. Hermskii's idea.. hehe. It's a good thing we have the same skin, for the statue's sake.
